  I am a realtor working on the listing side of this property that TPI is funding. I have to say this is been one of the worst lenders I have ever worked with. No communication, missing deadlines, not returning emails, the list goes on and on. The times that I have called to ask about the loan. The person in charge acts like it's new every time I talk to him. He has to look it up and says he will call me back but he never does. I don't know how they get any business but they will not get any further from me. If I see their name on a approval, I will have to tell the seller not to accept anything that they have pre-approved because of this experience.

  I try not to provide negative reviews and I’ve sat on this for over a year before deciding to write one. I wanted to ensure my feedback was balanced when I reflected on my interaction with this company and their staff. We decided to use TPI in 2019 for our 2018 tax returns because I wasn’t sure if turbo tax calculated it correctly. We worked with Pepper at TPI. I mentioned turbo tax provided us the same numbers as she stated, she questioned what turbo tax was in a very condescending manner and walked out of the room. That was a red flag and we should have left. She came back in a few minutes later saying how “offensive” and “insulting” it is to tell her that a computer can do her job and how she spent hours putting our tax return together. I spent less than an hour on turbo tax and had the same number as Pepper. Turbo tax charged less than $75 and we paid $400 for tax return. There was a financial document that was missed from the initial filing and I sent it over to Pepper in an email the very next day for amendment. I was informed we have to wait 2 weeks for amendment. Fast forward to 2020, we started to receive letters from IRS. Pepper never filed the amendment. When I called TPI to check, they said “You have to call and remind us to file amendment. Our consultants are very busy. Their time is valuable.” I am not sure what I paid $400 for when they can’t even follow-up and I have to remind. I spoke to the managing partner, Morteza, about this and he said “I’ll take care of it.” When I went to pick up the amendment, I ran into him in the lobby. He kept telling me our tax return was too complex with 34 trading/brokerage accounts. He manages customers with millions of dollars and even they don’t have 34 trading accounts. People who are hiding money have that many accounts. I was completely baffled because none of that was true, unless it was filed incorrectly before or if amendment would have addressed this incorrect information. Morteza left. The receptionist requested another $200 for the amendment. When I questioned why and how no one mentioned this charge prior, I was given the same response “our consultant time is valuable.” I decided not to pay and write a letter to IRS. We’ve been using turbo tax for years without any issues. Our tax return was simple - joint filing, no house, standardized deductions. I am still exchanging letters with IRS on how to address the taxes from 2018. I wrote a lengthy review so others don’t go through what we experienced. If you are unsure, you can always have a CPA at turbo tax review your return for less than half the cost. Their staff is rude, revenue obsessed and lacks customer obsession/service. The person who prepared our taxes is an English major who worked at a life insurance company and I don’t believe they are a CPA. So please please please do your research and stay away from this business.

A great number of our clients have been with us for over 20 years and attest to our professionalism, thoughtful strategies, passion for helping clients, and how we offer them peace of mind. At TPI Group, we have tax preparers and IRS Enrolled Agents, of which Ms. Pepper is not one of! If she ever helps with tax preparations during tax season—which is the office’s busiest time—it is only to collect tax documents from clients, not actually filing taxes. Morteza is the founder and owner of TPI Group with more than 30 years of experience. As all our loyal and long-term clients would attest, he would never express the words you mentioned in your review. It is very unfortunate that words can so freely be said, yet with no liability to follow. Additionally, every individual is free to use any method to prepare and file taxes. Given the fact that you initially used a tax software does not prevent us from charging you for our time and expertise, as it is our legal and ethical right to do so. Finally, the fact—as you so freely volunteered—that you chose not to pay for services rendered, speaks volumes about yourself. We wish you good luck.

  TPI Group is truly helpful in individual and company tax planning and advising. The TPI team helped me with taxes for the past several years and I would never switch to other firms. They are friendly and tireless in giving details and clarify tax codes. The crew is diligent and they are willing to work with customer to accommodate in scheduling time for initial and for additional meetings, if needed. I love the location, very convenient to find and parking is free, not to mention tea and sweets that are part of waiting!
