  Received an unsolicited call from them today. I would say not very professional just as it's unsolicited, but also they thought I was working for one company when I was not so their information was likely outdated and purchased from a third-party to make these calls.

  The 12-week internship with The Mather Group did a great job teaching me about the financial planning industry and what it is like to work at the firm. Each day over the summer the interns had the opportunity to speak with upper-level executives and learn more about the different aspects of financial planning. One of the best parts of the internship is that I was able to go to anyone in the company with questions or concerns; each and every employee was always happy to help and answer any questions I had. At the end of the first 6 weeks each intern was required to create a comprehensive financial plan. I learned so much from this project and was able to better understand what the employees do on an everyday basis. This internship allowed me to broaden my sales experience as well as develop an understanding of what it is like to work in financial planning.

  I've been a highly satisfied client of TMG since 2012. I was originally introduced to them by a retired former coworker and over the years I've met nearly everone on their Chicago location staff. Every encounter has been very pleasant as they absolutely go out of their way to do everything possible to make you feel comfortable and confident in their advice and services. They have a solid reputation with the more than 200 clients from the company that I retired from. My wife and I are very pleased with their investment advice, communication and performance. My portfolio has grown consistently, comfortably within my personal risk factor indicators. Before settlng in with TMG I had also explored other options but after meeting personally with Michael Ryabik, he set a meeting with Stuart Mather. I was sold after that, feeling comfortable and confident that my portfolio would be well managed. We now delightfully coordinate our financial goals with Brian Schmehil, who absolutely amazes us with his knowledge, communication skills and ability to calm my anxiety. If we ever need supplemental funds, a simple phone call to Dawn Cornwall and my request is quickly processed. I'd be in trouble if not for these people and I routinely recommend them to friends and family. I strongly urge anyone that is retiring soon or simply needs their portfolio managed, to contact The Mather Group.

  I’ve wanted to put together a review of The Mather Group for some time now. I have been with TMG for approximately 11 years. I met with a few different advisors prior and they all seemed to have the same sales pitch, which was “everything looks great we can set you up with a 72T account and you should be good to go!” This was back in August 2008. Then I met with Stewart Mather, and he explained the volatile market we were experiencing at the time, and suggested not going with a 72 T and possibly working for 3 more years in some capacity and not draw on my retirement in such a volatile market. This made perfect sense to my wife and I, so at that time I waited for the opportune time to retire. Well that came in January 2009, Stewart called and explained to me his thoughts on where the market was going and that this looked like a very good time to take my retirement funds and enter the market. I entered that market 11 years ago at the 7400 point and never looked back! Had I taken out that 72T back in 08 I wouldn’t have the funds I have today. TMG has also helped me in the purchase of several properties, pay off mortgages, taxes, insurance etc. I have worked with Stewart, Michael and now Brian Schmehil, if you call, they answer the phone, if you email, they email back... I have always felt that they have my best interests in mind. Highly recommended. Pat Coyne

  After years of research for an RIA, I selected The Mather Group 5 years ago. They are an RIA with fiduciary responsibility to act in my best interest.   The Mather Group (TMG) provides its interns with introductory experience that is relevant to joining the wealth management field upon graduation. TMG ensures that the interns become familiar with all aspects of the industry through different lectures each day. Additionally, each employee sits down with the interns to tell them about their personal experience in the industry, what exactly their role is inside of TMG, and answer any questions/ provide advice to the interns. These sessions were extremely informative and aided as preparation for creating our own mock financial plan for a potential client. Additionally, interning for TMG provided us the opportunity to develop our interpersonal communication skills and gain experience in sales. This allowed the interns to become comfortable on the phone and learn how to adjust their sales pitch to each individual. Everyone at TMG is happy to be working there which makes it a great atmosphere to be a part of. TMG is partnered with A Better Chicago and offered volunteer opportunities throughout the internship as well.

  Great company to manage your portfolio and never had any calls at work that were unwanted or unsolicited. Always answers my questions when I call them very professional and they have extensive knowledge in the financial market and how to invest your money for the long term. Thanks to this team for making my life easier with my financial planning.

  Cold call. Told me they worked with others in my company. When I questioned who, they hung up on me. I was not going to go business with a company that cold called me to start with. However, that action and the potential unsubstantiated comment about my co-workers using them, left me with a negative opinion of this company.

  Like many others, I was called at work. They claimed to have already talked with others at my company, so they obviously try to drum up business by making unsolicited calls at workplaces, pretending to be "approved by your financial company". Also, most of these 5-star reviews come from interns, just saying.
