Synchrony Financial Reviews

Cassandra Tomchak1Similar to other reviews, I opened a credit card account with them to finance a piece of furniture through Ashley Homestore. My credit score drastically declined because of how high “the percentage of my credit limit was being used”. Which makes no sense, I hadn’t made a single payment yet, the account was just opened. And when I say drastic I mean 70-80 points. I’m this close to just paying the entire thing off right now so that I don’t have to deal with them. When I called to inquire, the customer service agent had no idea what I was talking about. I should have done my due diligence and read these prior reviews before opening this account. Nothing was communicated to me clearly by the furniture store either. DO NOT use them!

The Mystery Viewer1I got this card only because my son was in a bind with his car and had no choice. I was approved for a 1000 limit, i made payments on time and over minimum. Now my limit decreased to 580. What is suspicious is my total payments i have made has been to 420. So this institution logically pocketed the 420, decrease my limit to 580 and there joke of customer service can not even answer a question. Dont ever use them and i will be putting this review in with the BBB.

Melissa1Why do you keep returning my payments and tell me I’m late and report against my credit?! Where can I pay cash so you can’t return my money?!? What is wrong with you?!? Do you not want my money for payment?!? I’m contacting my bank cause I can’t deal with this company!!!

Marie Chase1Incredibly frustrating that my credit score just dropped 20 points at no fault of my own and completely due to Synchrony Credit. I opened an account to purchase furniture last year and every time I hit a balance owed milestone, they drastically decrease my credit limit which affects my score. I have great credit, my income hasn’t changed, and I have made every payment on time so there is absolutely no reason why they continue to decrease my limit! Clearly they have no consideration for their customers and as soon as I pay off my balance I will never use this card again. I went from having a 4,000 balance to 1,200...they lowered it by a thousand dollars as soon as I hit the 1,200 balance. So frustrating and a completely unprofessional policy on their part. I highly recommend getting a general credit card for furniture purchases instead of this company that lacks transparency, communication and integrity for their customers.

Maggie Godinez2This has been a bit more to deal with than is necessary in my opinion. I applied and were given a reference number stating I would get an answer in 7-10 days. That time frame surpassed a d I received nothing. I had to call to find out the application didn’t even go through…. First issue. I get approved and I’m wait the 7-10 business days for my card again the time surpassed and nothing. I call to find out that although I put my apartment number apparently it got cut off and was sent back ( this issue should have been resolved by now, considering this has been happening to others for a while now). I called was told a card would be reissued and after a week I called AGAIN and was told another card was requested but had not been sent. I’m trying to get my car repaired and need a physical copy as you guys don’t offer a digital one and it’s been over THREE WEEKS now and I’m just not getting a card issue out. I won’t even need it at this point.

Rebekah Towers1ZERO STARS!!! Do not use this bank for any kind of credit! They have HORRIBLE customer service and its a scam. My husband and I were approved for a card through them to purchase a mattress. We got the card in the mail and then decided to not use it for awhile because we chose to go another route of payment. So the card has just been sitting there. The other day I got an email alert from CreditKarma telling me that the account had been closed due to several very vague reasons. ALL negative, saying it was closed because of delinquent payments (we've never used the card so we don't have any kind of balance with them), low credit score (which wasn't that bad in the first place and they had already previously approved us for). My husband called to talk with a manager in the credit department and they told us that there was no such person and that it's all done by a computer. We asked for someone else to talk to and got told the same thing. There is no one that you will ever be able to talk to to fix any issues with the account/credit department. I have almost an 800 credit score and my husband is now in the low 700's, so our credit has only improved since we got the card. Yet they said our account was closed because of bad credit and delinquent payments! There's no way we can resolve this and each customer service rep/manager was very short with us, even to the point of making us out to be the bad person in the whole ordeal. Basically they can give you credit and then closed the account any time they want with no real explanation or actual customer service and by closing the account they lowered our credit score and we did nothing wrong. :(

Ryan Chien1Horrible customer service that seems to be outsourced, so there is a large language barrier and staff is very unprofessional, rude, repeated hang-ups, and very unknowledge on how to provide support on their products and services. Apply for CC online -> No email confirmations or letters -> A call back required my SS as my only method to check my application status (I wonder how much identity theft occurs at this bank ) yet still unable to provide a status and told to wait a week -> Another week nothing -> Called back and they cannot verify my identity and cannot tell me why or fix it, then told to wait for a new letter within 7 days -> Receive the letter stating it cannot verify my identity and call a number -> Called the number and they claim my application was denied 7 days after the letter was sent out (prior to me receiving it) Advised my only recourse is to re-apply and there is no way to verify my identity prior to re-applying or how to verify it during a pending state -> Re-Apply and auto denied because an application was submitted recently -> Call back and they told me to try again in 6 months, then recanted and stated they don't know when you can retry. TLDR: Customer support is non-existent and their existence is solely there to waste your time an not provide any real resolutions. If your application is denied or pending, look elsewhere. How this bank is in business is truly astounding....

Ivan Glazyrin1I had a credit card, what I opened with Living Spaces furniture store, never been late on payments, payed out in Advance !!!! First my Spending ability was lowered, for no reason, And I just find out, Synchrony Bank, closed my card. For no reason. Instead of bringing my Spending ability UP. They lowered it and then closed my account. Worthless Bank Ever.

Melissa Rovner1I had seven accounts open with synchrony bank I close down every single one of them for one card I have a Sam’s Club card that they lowered from 700 to 200 and I am a business owner just because I had Covid and I accidentally paid my husband’s Sam’s Club twice. Synchrony bank decided to lower my credit from 700 to 200 because I missed a payment I had this account for seven years. Synchrony bank is now telling me I have bad credit which my credit score is 700 ridiculous. I guess they will no longer be getting interest for me. Don’t recommend doing business with this company.

M Rental1If they only had negative -5 stars , This credit company verification system is the worse I ever had in my opinion. I had them for 4 years I just canceled them. Once they locked my account for transactions (out of state) . That I used at same city for 4 years . Can’t the cashier verify my ID in person. It’s 2021 not 1960 . No they just blocked my account .I’m done trying to verify my own account. 3x and say we can’t verify the code we just sent you. We have to send you a code in the mail. The funny thing they also couldn’t recognize my own number i opened my account from day one. What a joke . there credit limit started was peanuts , so low $2000 can’t do much fixing a house with that amount. I wouldn’t waist my time opening a account here. My credit is over 765 btw. I’m done with lows credit. (Synchrony bank) But Home Depot gave me $20,000 credit limit . I don’t have time for this nonsense.
