  Rolando Garcia was incredible to work with from start to finish. It was my first time buying a home and wasn't sure about so many things. Rolando took the time to explain to me in great detail of all my options and what would be best for me and my situation. Rolando was always quick to respond to any questions I had and was by my side throughout the whole loan process. I would recommend him to any of my family members or friends.   Shelter Mortgage and my specific loan officer, Rolando Garcia, were so amazing in helping me buy my first house. He was so informative and right there at the tip of my fingertips whenever I needed him. He was so easy to contact and get a hold of, and always there to answer questions whether it was through email, text, phone call no matter what time of day it was. He helped me understand everything and facilitated everything that needed to be done. To top it off, Hurricane Irma hit our state and the county were I was purchasing right before we were supposed to close which created a sandstorm of troubles and big old mess. But Rolando handled it gracefully, which kept my anxiety in check and it only delayed closing exactly a week! I don't know what I would have done working with another company and I highly recommend Shelter Mortgage, and particularly Rolando!

  My wife and I used Shelter Mortgage to obtain a loan for our first house a couple months ago, at a recommendation from our realtor. Brian, Rebecca, and the rest of the team were absolutely fantastic to work with. I've heard a lot of horror stories from friends and coworkers about their mortgage processes, but ours was flawless. We were able to close on time and got a rate that's competitive with the big banks. I cannot recommend Brian and his team enough. They always answered our questions promptly, and were very polite and professional. I will gladly recommend them to friends, family, and anyone else that needs a mortgage.

  Rolando Garcia was WONDERFUL to work with! I cannot stress enough how easy he made the process of buying our first home. My Fiancé and I had many questions throughout the process, and Rolando was able to answer all of them in a way we could understand. He was available to contact outside of regular office hours, and even worked on our pre approval while on vacation, because he knew we were on a time crunch. Rolando was always very kind and really worked on our behalf. He even attended our closing. I would recommend Rolando Garcia to anyone buying a home if you want an easy and smooth process. He will not forget a detail. He will return all your calls and texts. He will answer any questions even if you ask them over and over, and he will encourage you in your decision to buy your home.   Loan officer was missing in action 90% of the time we were under contract. Would not respond to emails or voicemails. Over 2 months under contract with this company, the file was handled poorly, after 2 closing extensions and repeatedly requesting a denial letter, I received an email the night before the 3rd expected close date. Horrible, Horrible, Horrible. When or if you hear their name, Run!

  I really wish I would have done a little more research into mortgage lenders to use when buying my first home. I was recommended by my realtor to use this company because they offered incentives for first time home buyers and regret that I listened. I was offered a program for down payment assistance. Come to find out, after signing paperwork for this, they somehow "forgot" to secure the funds before this program ended. They then offered a different program but that meant that I would be spending much more out of pocket to close than expected. I decided to go ahead thinking "let's just get this over with so I can buy my home." My closing was put off multiple times. I was always having to review paperwork and have them fix it. When my closing did finally come around, I was so happy that this nightmare would finally be over. NOPE! Get to my early morning closing and I am told by the title company that the mortage company never wired over the funds for the house! We waited until late that evening for the keys to our home when we should have walked out with them that morning. Do yourself a favor and use someone else. It's not worth the stress.
