Patrick Caballero5A TREASURE HUNTERS DESTINATION. This place was surprisingly nice and well stocked. We found the prices to be reasonable and the staff friendly. We did not bicker on the prices. This is a charitable organization and we understood the prices are a little high but not ridiculously so. Spend a few extra dollars and have fun doing it. I bought a perfectly working electric lawn mower for $50, a small telescope new in the box for $15 and a used Cisco wireless router for $5 (this what I was looking for and went to two other thrift stores looking for one.)
Response from the ownerThank you for your kind words, Patrick! We're delighted you found treasurers at our Thrift Store! We work hard to support our community, and the Thrift Store is one of the cornerstones that funds our food pantry and programs. We hope you come back soon - new treasurers arrive almost daily!

Kaylee Crenshaw3I want to like this thrift store but probably won’t be back. One woman that works there is extremely rude. She made a remark about how many kids I had(4) which came across more critical than enduring. She was openly talking about me and my kids to her co-worker right in front of me. She was saying things like yeah I’m trying to watch all those kids over there and we should start making announcements like they do at Goodwill like please keep your kids with you and don’t play with the toys. Which my kids were playing with the toys that they have there but they were being respectful and not making a huge mess and only playing with one thing at a time which I told them to do. They weren’t bothering anyone but if she didn’t want them playing with the toys she should’ve just asked me to keep them with me and not play with the toys instead of talking about me right in front of me where I could hear her .
Response from the ownerKaylee, we are very sorry your experience here at OLH was less than wonderful. We want everyone who shops here to feel like they're among friends, loved and well cared for, and it sounds like you experienced the exact opposite. Thank you for leaving this honest review, and please know we take your words seriously and are looking into it right now. We're also taking this as an opportunity to review our training, policies, and procedures. We hope you'll be back.

Shane Latouf2Way Over-priced on most things. Are you really doing any good for your charity if you base your selling prices off what people can buy it on eBay for? Wii remote with no battery cover for 8.00, hard pass, but thanks anyway. Carolina Panthers pro player jacket for 45.00 that's been sitting for 4 months, wonder why? Aside from the fact it's Carolina Panthers. Come on guys, you are a thrift store, not a boutique. Lower your prices and actually help your charity.
Response from the ownerHi Shane, we're sorry you feel we're over-priced. Also, we never put out items requiring batteries without the cover (it was found on the floor behind a bag). Just so you know some of what we do - the Thrift Store supports our Food Pantry, which serves an average of 900 people each month with free food. We gave more than $50,000 in financial assistance in the last year and provided 914 snack bags last summer to the students who get free/reduced meals during the school year. The TS gave more than 42,000 free articles of clothing and shoes throughout the year. We've assisted nearly 2,400 people in the last year - keeping up with demand despite a 46% increase of folks in need. However, OLH doesn't do this alone. We greatly appreciate all those who support our efforts to serve, e.g. Community Pathways Organization and L4 Cares for Operation Back to School, LHISD schools collected 200 coats and the TS contributed 100 more - which we gave to those who needed them, as well as numerous entities and businesses collect thousands of pounds of food throughout the year, which we distribute to our clients. We hope this gives a bigger picture of what we do and who we are.

Chad Jacobson1There is a person who works on the home goods side that is super rude and disrespectful. Embarrassing the customers is not a good look. Everyone else who works there are very nice and easy going but this one person is always apparently in a bad mood or something! Will not be back except to get food if we need it as we are not very well off.
Response from the ownerHi Chad, by the home goods side, do you mean our Thrift Store or that section of our store? Trying to understand who you could have had such an unpleasant experience with. Rude, disrespectful, embarrassing someone is never how we, whether volunteer or employee, want to come across to anyone - much less our beloved customers. Managing staff would like to hear of your experience today. We strive to care for each of our customers like family. Please feel free to drop by the office during TS business hours or call (512) 778-4176 to set up an appointment. We look forward to hearing from you.

M S1This shop posted a product on FBMarketplace. I responded very quickly to purchase. Told purchase could not be processed. Asked to have product marked "Pending" but was denied. Showed up before store opened. Walked in and was told item had been sold to another while I was locked outside waiting. They may pray but that wasn't fair or right or christian. No apology until I asked for one. And an insincere one even then. Don't be fooled by the facade of religiosity. Don't donate. Don't shop.

Crystal Fulbright5I pretty much love most thrift stores that aren’t Goodwill. The best are the independent ones adjacent to a church. Good donations, good prices, ladies that WANT to be there (i.e. not miserable employees of the corporate thrift). This place is all those things. It’s on the small side, and I do wish they had more work-appropriate dresses, as it’s next to church, but all in all, it’s a good little shop on the outskirts of town. God bless them all.

Barry Holsinger5Much better than Goodwill. Interesting collectable nick-nacks.

Lisa Messana5I needed a light weight jacket in the middle of dinner because we were visiting N CA. Where else could you find a cute, pink jacket in June?!?! The store is well-organized and three people who work and volunteer here are the absolute best!
