  Everyone at Nantahala Bank in Murphy have been very friendly and helpful!! We love banking with Nantahala Bank and truly appreciate the excellent professional and personal service they offer. They seem to make each customer feel welcomed and special. I would highly recommend them for a home town bank!!

  Was just hit with over $200 in overdraft fees. In the past people have called me if they saw activity like this. But for this no one called me to let me know what was going on so I had a chance to borrow money to avoid further fees. I was also told by them today that they can only refund the last fee for $20 because of some regulation. However, I just read online this is not even true. I'm very disappointed with this bank. My family is struggling so badly financially right now. Needless to say, I am very distraught with how they are treating me. I believe they can do something to help me but just refuse to help.

  Gina, We are sorry about your difficulties and the overdraft fees charged to your account. We have provided a one-time refund fee as a courtesy. Under the UDAAP (Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices, a part of the Dodd-Frank Act) rule, we must treat every customer the same. This means that we cannot choose to waive fees for one customer, and not choose to waive fees for another. If we refunded all of your overdraft fees, we would have to refund everyone’s overdraft fees. We do offer as most banks do, ways to help prevent overdraft fees, such as Overdraft Protection, a Mobile Banking app that lets you set an alert when funds are low and Online Banking where you can check your balance daily. Please contact us and we will be happy to help you with these options.

  Waited 35 minutes .told us they were busy. One person (customer) in the bank. 5 employees on deck.Very disrespectful. useless. Do not bank with them. One word to describe this bank A. HOLES. FRANCIS CZWAKIEL USMC (RET)

  Parked in their parking lot on the 4th of July which was a Saturday (in the evening) to see the town and eat. We are visiting from out of town. The bank is CLEARLY not open and will not be for another36+ hours, and who shows up? A TOW TRUCK. Thankfully this guy did not have the stomach to tow people on a Saturday night and waited around for word to get out that people needed to move their vehicles. Now, I can understand issues with parking while the bank is open and needing to tow some cars, although its hard to imagine a town the size of Murphy having issues with lack of parking so terrible that their own customers can't find a spot to park in during business hours, but to have a company tow vehicles after hours like that? I don't kinow why the people in Murphy even bank there, because that's no way to treat your potential customers. We happened to be visiting, but the restaurant next door was filled with locals. Y'all deserve better from your local bank, and y'all at the bank need to chill out. UPDATE: RESPONSE FROM OWNER: "No Parking signs have been in place many years and enforced due to loitering, littering and vandalism." Response TO OWNER: Hmm. None of those three reasons have anything to do with parking in the parking lot while eating in a nearby restaurant. People with cars don't generally loiter, litter, or vandalize. And there are a zillion surveillance cameras on banks. Way to be super unfriendly.

  Seems like bad public relations to tow cars from a lot that the business is closed any chance of me doing business is gone. Why not just charge for parking if theres so much of a demand ?

  Matthew, We are sorry about your experience at our branch. We realize it is an inconvenience for people who want to park in our lot when it is posted that vehicles will be towed. It is also an inconvenience for our customers trying to get to the ATM when others park and block the area. By enforcing the towing, we also help our customers from the loitering and littering from patrons of other establishments.
