Been a member for Over 50 years and an out of state member since 1982. I deal with the employees on the phone. With all the new changes, I want to Thank Jamie for her patience this morning. She agreed to call me back concerning fees for a dormant account, called within 5 minutes. The rules have changed over the years from the Pontiac Telephone Employees Credit Union to now but I have always received excellent service from kind and considerate employees.

      Response from the owner

Thank you for the 5 star review, kind words and being a long term member of the credit union, Jan. We strive to provide the membership with the best service possible. Jim Boehler

If I could give them 0 stars I would. Terrible service. You get charged for everything even after asking to be removed from a service. Ever since they joined Birmingham Bloomfield my debut card has had fraudulent charges. They don’t care enough to even help. And when I asked to stop taking money from my savings and putting it into my checking and CHARGING me they told me they can’t do that. If there’s money in my account they will automatically transfer it and charge me. Now when my account is fraudulently charged it won’t be declined and the charges just keep continuing. They don’t care for their “members” they just care about money. And don’t expect to get a response from them either. Save yourself and bank somewhere else.

I have been a member for a MINIMUM of 20 years. I graduated high school in 2005 and I financed my very first car though Lakes Community Credit Union. I am so ashamed and disappointed to have spent most of my life banking here. I could tell you 50 stories on how they let me down or failed to live up to what they said. However, Its not Lakes Community Credit Union anymore, its BIRMINGHAM BLOOMFIELD CREDIT UNION Since they took over, they have shown they are there for the money and NOT FOR THE PEOPLE. Failure to check on compromised debit cards: CHECK! Failure to approve funds after being notified of traveling: CHECK! Failure to manage A SIMPLE USED CAR LOAN: CHECK! (after they failed to notify me that my account has been compromised because of their lack of security, they tried to default my auto loan due to lack of action on their part) Jim Boehler, Do not reply to this review.

This Credit Union used to be good but now going down hill. I don't know what changed but the system's have bugs and are outdated. Quite a few times I tried to make a payment on my credit card with this credit union and the payment system showed "Processed" then after a whole week would go by the payment would get returned, even thought it still shows processed. I think these kind of bugs in the software should be fixed quickly, you're dealing with customers credit score here. Also it takes sometimes up to 2 days to transfer money between checking and savings account, I don't think I know another credit union where it takes this much time to transfer money within the same system.

      Response from the owner

Hi Alex, We apologize for the issues you experiencing with making a payment on your credit card. I need some additional information regarding this issue. Please reach out to me at the credit union, by calling 248-814-4000. Thank you. Jim B.

Been a member for 7 years. Used to be a nice friendly credit union. No longer is though unfortunatly and I wish I didn't have to say these things. The ladies working the front desk seem to take pleasure in finding something they can't/wont do for u. I thought maybe perhaps they were having a stressed day and I get that not every day is going to be A+ customer service. But after seeing multiple instances of giving customers unfair attitudes/or looks as if ur asking a lot of them and why don't you know about our policies, I will be closing my account here. I'm not anyone important enough for them to care really just a small personal account but I just want others to know that your not alone in your feeling that this credit union has officially changed for the worse. From policies to employees. Very sad day in lo where living is a vacay

      Response from the owner

Dave, We are sorry we were unable to process your transaction. The CU is required to follow regulatory guidelines which protect the members as well as the credit union. We train our staff to provide the best member service possible and we apologize if your experience didn’t meet these standards. I would like to understand your situation in greater detail, as we are always looking for training opportunities. Feel free to reach out to me at your convenience. Jim Boehler Marketing Specialist

Lakes literally saved my life after I went through a financial hardship after college. They are local and truly believe in helping the community! They helped me get both a car loan and signature loan to pay off the collection accounts I had against me. I'm proud to say my car is almost paid off and my credit is steadily increasing. This bank is flexible and builds a relationship with its customers. It's really nice that they're open Saturdays and are adding more locations. This is a great bank!

My family has been banking with Lakes from their beginning in Lake Orion. We have always found the staff and the service to be exemplary. Those that work there are both friendly, and are willing to go out of their way to help you with your financial needs. This is a professional place with a home-town feel.

I went into Lakes to provide proof of insurance for my boyfriend's motorcycle unfortunately I didn't have the proper documentation but the teller (Mary) decided to be condescending and point out that the letter states exactly what they need. My apologies for not reading the entire letter just the part that says provide documentation for proof of insurance. Thinking she was just looking down on me I chose to speak to the loan agent that my boyfriend went through (Cindy). As I waited for her I saw Mary yet again be condescending to a very young customer that wanted to "take a loan out" she corrected him by asking "Do you mean apply for a loan?". My parents have been credit union members for 44 years and their credit union never treated us like that. My first car loan was through a credit union and it's a shame because I considered refinancing my Jeep at Lakes but not with the events I witnessed today. Mary should be reprimanded for treating customers so poorly.

      Response from the owner

Nicole, Please accept my sincere apology for your negative experience. We at Lakes Community Credit Union take member service very seriously. As a cooperative, our members are not only the owners of the credit union, we think of them as family. Rest assured your concerns will be addressed and additional training provided to the front line staff where necessary. I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you regarding the specifics of your encounter to ensure the most productive staff training possible. I hope you reconsider your decision not to refinance your Jeep with Lakes, as we are currently running an excellent loan special. You would receive not only the benefit of lower rates, but also a cash rebate of 1% of the amount of your loan up to $500.00! And I personally would appreciate the opportunity to prove to you that we at Lakes appreciate each and every member. Annette Swidwinski Chief Lending Officer – Lakes Community Credit Union

$15 convenience fee to make a payment to a loan using their online bill pay and stop taking paymemts over the phone !!! Way to turn off and away current and future account holders. Ladys in loan dept. are great and will help you in anyway others don't care. Gonna close account soon and find better credit union..Go charge another FEE LCCU!

      Response from the owner

Jason, We apologize that we can no longer take credit card payments over the phone free of charge. I do want to make you aware that if you use Loan Pay Xpress’ Direct Debit feature from a checking account you won’t have to pay any convenience fee. Most of the credit union’s membership chooses that option. If you need help setting it up or have any additional feedback, please contact us at the credit union. Also if you stop in at any one of our branches, you can also make a credit card payment free of charge.
