Severus Spade1Unfortunately our experience with this company was not a good one. As two vets new to the area, we were adamant on finding the right home for our family in a timely manner. I inquired about a property in butler and was immediately connected to the agent Marcia Maher. I asked to set up a showing for the house asap. After I set up the showing, we met her at the house and she greeted us. She was nice, but a bit off-putting once I mentioned we would probably make an offer soon. She didn't seem very motivated to sell the house to us. In fact, she mentioned there was no offer on the home yet. In a disdainful tone, Marcia explained that a woman previously sent in an offer without an approval letter in hand and then chose to proceed with her own agent. That comment made me a bit uneasy as we had nothing to do with that person and that was her personal business. Shortly after we left the house, we notified her with an offer. She procrastinated and even though our approval was enough, she suggested we try another lending co. Then after we got the new approval (which was just about the same amount) she never sent the offer forward to the owner. I truly felt as though she did not want us to purchase the house. We provided everything that was asked and was disregarded. The next day, we noticed the offer was still not submitted. My fiance and I found out she was actually the representative for the owner as well. My fiance contacted an agent that assisted him previously to get the ball rolling. Once the new agent submitted the offer, we waited 24hrs for a response and still wasn't told if it had been approved or wasnt enough. After that, Marcia explained how she now had someone else getting ready to submit their offer. We did not know if our offer was accepted or needed to be adjusted because there was no communication. During this time, we waited and waited until we were informed that the process had turned into a bidding game. We had yet another 24hrs before they decided to accept the highest offer. I found this process totally ridiculous and frustrating considering how the property was on the market for over 30 days with no previous offer. Something wasn't right. We waited in the dark the entire time, and the next night the first notification we recieved was an online update that the house was pending. The agent informed us afterwards that the owner decided to go with the other offer and did not wish to negotiate with us. I wasn't at all surprised but disappointed by the outcome. It was cold and the other party was passive aggressive. We weren't even given a fair chance to negotiate and had to wait for someone else just to get an answer. We were happy to accommodate. I cannot speak for the company entirely, but this has been my personal experience. Marcia Maher did not show good ethical practice during this process. She was able to manipulate the entire situation to profit on both ends. I understand making money in this business. However, I do not agree with stepping on others to get ahead. What goes around comes around. Update: After reaching out to management for explanation on the sale practices, I never received a response from the company directly. A third party had to attempt to mediate for any contact. That's what it took for any responses, marketing inquiries, and advice for purchasing a house in this area. All which could have been settled before progressing to another level. In the end, just as expected, there was one excuse after another. It was obviously an attempt to cover up for someone elses unethical business practices and nothing happened.. They claim to work to help customers find the best home for families when it's all really just a money game and who knows who. Best advice, do your own research and be vigilant don't rely on these agents to assist you in even small matters. They wont hesitate to back up their own worker ants even when they dont have all facts. Start speaking up if things are shady and tell the world. Even if they tell you it's futile. Only then will we see a change.
