Guillermo Olivencia1Worst bank in Hawaii !! Stay away !!! Lots of hidden rules an fees that really don’t benefit you in any way. Not a great bank for building credit terrible customer service an tellers that are unfortunately extremely green when it comes to education an simple understanding of what they are doing. It’s a credit union, there job is to help you build an understand your credit but not a single one of these people know how to doit. You have a better chance with credit karma an staying away from this bank from stealing your money. People in Hawaii are not uneducated. We aren’t what other people say we are or what tourist think we are. But if I walk into this bank it makes it extremely hard to believe that statement. The fact that the whole entire staff give us such a bad name reminds of why i fight to set a better example for my culture. Shame on you !

Emily5My daughter has an account here, we recently moved off island and started an account for her at a major mainland bank. The mainland bank has made everything so much more difficult for us, often making us call HFS several times a day to clarify things or calling HFS themselves. HFS is compassionate, caring and helpful every single time we call. I can't say enough good things about how understanding and kind they've been about this situation!
Response from the ownerMahalo for your kind words Emily! We're always happy to help.

kerry meyer5Very friendly, competent and thorough staff. They are the best and remind me of the days of the past where aloha spirit was practiced by all. These guys remind me of the true aloha spirit of small kid time.
Response from the ownerThank you so much Kerry! :) We'd love to speak with you regarding your experiences with HFS. Would you be willing to contact us at [email protected]? We hope to hear from you!

Mugshot Marley1First bank that Ive had where the system went down for multiple hours, and I (or anyone else on The Big Island) wasn't able to access their money. Unable to purchase items with your debit card or use it to withdraw money from an ATM.
Response from the ownerThank you for your feedback, we’re very sorry for this inconvenience. Unfortunately there was a service interruption and maintenance performed on the Bank of Hawaii ATMs, however we are not aware of any reason that this should have prevented your debit card from making purchases at any stores. If you could give us a call at (808) 930-1400, we’d like to look into your situation further to determine what happened. Mahalo.

James Guenthoer1Their customer service is horrible. My 87 year old mother tried to open an account with money on hand and they were asking too many requirements. She ended up opening an account with Home Street Bank with only one ID. I mean who refuses money? I got reminded why I left this credit union.
Response from the ownerHi James. We apologize for any inconveniences you and your mother may have experienced with HFS. Please know that our credit union is committed to our members, especially their protection. We take identity theft and fraud very seriously and therefore we do require a government issued ID, proof of physical address as well as basic information such as SSN, birthdate, etc. to open a personal savings account to verify your identity. If we can help to explain any of these further, we’d be happy to do so. Mahalo!
