D B1Golub is the current owner of Prairie Shores Apartment on the South side of Chicago where McHugh Construction is overseeing a renovation project. I moved into the new unit on April 16,2021 and have been trying since then to get my problems resolved. Old tenants are being rush and bamboozled into new units that are being advertised as renovated when it the only improvement is the kitchen area and new appliances. The quality of the workman ship is absolutely substandard at best. The Mc Hugh project supervisor (Jose) was tone deaf and dismissive when I pointed out my issues and concerns this morning. The floor boards in the unit that I live in are uneven and squeaks when you walk in some areas especially the entrance to both bedrooms and near the window areas. Building maintenance brought along a McHugh supervisor who suggested that the flooring is supposed to be like that. It gives/moves when you walk, it shrinks and expands. There is a gap in the tile on both sides of the vanity in the bathroom that I pointed out during this morning inspection. So, what does Mr. McHugh do? He has workers chalk one side and leave the gap on the other side? Now someone with have back again unless I let it go, more unnecessary traffic during a pandemic. There is sharp edge on the metal strip at the entrance to the bathroom that needs smoothing. His response, it looks like someone puled something heavy over the doorway and pulled the metal up. So, who pulled something heavy over the door, your workers or me? There are similar areas throughout the unit especially near closet doors that have a gap where the tile does not go all the way up to the door. Is this something that I should have to leave with or McHugh should do a better job of laying the flooring or filling in the gaps? The stem on the face bowl was broken from day one and needs to be repaired for the second time in less than a month. There is a wet wood smell that is coming from the area underneath the vanity. McHugh’s response to me this morning was that the vanity is new. Yes, the vanity itself is new but the piping and board under the vanity is not. So, what does McHugh(supervisor) do? Nothing because I don’t matter. I question whether or not the company is bothering to inspect their work or the work of their subcontractors on the project? Should I be grateful McHugh’s lack of professionalism in an apartment that I pay rent for? I am very disappointed all around and speaking to some of my neighbors in the building they have the same issues. I would not recommend McHugh for construction needs or Golub for rental property needs at Prairie Shores. I am still waiting on repairs to my unit to be completed some for the third time.

Most residents really value the upgraded kitchens and flooring that the newly renovated units provide, so we are committed to working with you to rectify the issues that fall within the originally communicated scope of work. It is our understanding that all of these issues have now been addressed, but if that’s not the case, please reach out to the property General Manager so she can schedule a time to personally walk through your unit with you.

shawn j1Golub and Company recently acquired Prairie Shores Apartment. The management is very inconsiderate and impolite. Slow to respond to emails and lacks customer service skills. Specifically their manager Carter lacks primitive customer service skills. I was recently impacted by COVID-19 and requested a financial solution to my rent payments. Carter was non empathetic towards my circumstances and assisted my account would be reported to the collections agency. I would not recommend the building to friends or family because of her. The building overall, is well kept and in a convient location. However, I would rather pay prices somewhere where I am respected and feel appreciated.

Tommy Hoyt1Made my building (1 East Delaware) stop accepting packages and instead added $15 per month to everyone’s lease for the “courtesy” of having all packaged rerouted to an offsite facility. That’s right: all residents are required to pay to slow down their packages. Don’t move to a Golub building.

Janet Reeves-Wilson1I have lived at Prairie Shores for a number of years. It was owned by Draper and Kramer and was so so. Since Golub has taken over as owners the quality has declined even more. The only good thing that Golub has done was partnered with Fetch delivery service. Golub please change the management in the main office they are unprofessional and unresponsive to the needs of the residents.

Benjamin D. Cohen1They lease out one apartment to two separate people at once - they also lie during the move out process about reletting. Stay far away from Golub. Their are much more honest companies out there to do apartment leasing with.
