Flagstar Bank Commercial Homebuilder Finance Reviews

Kasey Phillips1Completely horrible bank, they offered this great package to help consumers that were impacted by Covid, they told me I could defer my payments for 3 months…thanks, that’s great news. Fast forward three months when I’m ready to turn my direct deposit back on, I actually owe every one of those past three months in one lump sum, immediately. WHAT, how the bleep did that actually help me. I would rather panhandle on the corner than bank with this worthless sham of a bank!!!

stephen land1I had a very bad experience with this bank and I was floored when I read the first comment. They stole $4700 out of my bank. I don’t have auto pay and I didn’t authorize any additional payments . I had the same response from their Customer Service Supervisor. No help and would even offer to help. I went to my Credit Union where they stole the money and reported as a fraudulent charge and they refunded my money right away. These people are crooks! They just bought my mortgage from Navient and never reached out to me to introduce themselves. I am refinancing my home immediately and running from these crooks. I do not recommend them to anyone. Run and run as fast as you can. Taking food out of your children’s mouths is just sickening!!

Courtney Walton1Save yourself the time and look somewhere else. Grueling process to refinance our house. Extremely unorganized process. UPDATE: This company should go out of business. I deferred my loan because of covid. When I went to start my payments again, they offered a loan modification. They sold it as if I could get a lower interest rate. I got them ALL the papers they requested. I had an answer within 3 days on what they were going to do. They wanted to extend my loan 10 years and make me escrow (when I have been paying my own taxes for the last few years). I asked them for a written breakdown of the offered monthly payment. They said it was in the mail. When I opened the paperwork, there was no breakdown just a monthly cost. I called and asked them to breakdown this payment for me. I wanted to know how much the principle vs taxes were. The principle STAYED THE SAME and I was told they were fronting my taxes and insurance. How does this even make sense since they extended my loan 10 years?! There was also a clause in the paper saying that taxes and insurance were subject to change. I assume in Nov/Dec I would be getting a letter stating my taxes and insurance went up and then I would be stuck with an extra 10 years on my loan. This is STEALING from people. Be aware, this company is NOT here to help. DO NOT MODIFY YOUR LOAN!! I obviously declined this offer and will refinance with my credit union as soon as possible. Shameful company.

Karen Bodin-Rincon1Worst mortgage company ever! Customer service could not care less. No one knows what’s going on. I am lied to over and over again. They literally stole over $4,500 from my bank account and will not refund the entire amount. Run as fast as you can. I l”love” the automatic response to these reviews. No, I’m not calling you to discuss. We already had 7 conversations about it. They are thieves. Period. The end.

carlyle small1Worst mortgage company. Completely messed up escrow during the refi now I get to pay thousands of dollars or see my mortgage go up $600 month. Companies like this is what gives the whole industry a bad name.

B. Killen1Horrible. My taxes were not paid. I contacted Flagstar and was told the check had been returned from tax office because they had been paid by the homeowner. The county had no record of having ever received the money and since the amount Flagstar said they sent and the amount due were two different amounts I tend to believe it was never paid. I called several times, was promised call backs which I never received. Taxes become delinquent in 2 days, I have been trying to get answers for 3 weeks. Every time I call they act like it was the first they have heard from me.

Jorge Pradilla1My house in TX flooded on Nov 4. I sent all required documentation to Flagstar (including insurance claim check, adjusters report, contractors estimate and documentation). It’s now December 10th and they are still processing my claim - so they won’t release the funds. I had to get the cleanup efforts started out of my own funds because there was mold in the house. I am now $21k in repairs and Flagstar doesn’t seem to mind. Last two times I called they told me they’re so busy they’ll take my information and call me back. I am so frustrated I am now looking at taking legal action. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!!

Lindsay1HORRIBLE! Customer service is extremely rude. They took $2,200 out of my escrow for flood insurance I already have and over 2 months have gone by and they just keep saying there's nothing they can do. I'd give 0 stars if I could.

Reinhard Zapfe1Easily the worst place to work with as a mortgage holder. It seems like every time I've talked to someone there/had someone call me about my mortgage I've found out something else, another hoop to jump through, something... So do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

Ravi Goyal1Their system is designed to cheat you. If your loan is ever sold to them, find a way to get it out, perhaps refinancing is the only option.
