I've been a member here for 35+ years, going back to when it was originally the HP Employees Federal Credit Union. Ever since it's reincarnation as First Tech, their customer service has declined, the staff turnover at the branches is constant, and basic competence for routine transactions is decreasing. If you want a BofA like experience where you are just another number, this is what First Tech has morphed into.

This is review for the branch and not for the credit union or it's website in general. I have had to visit the branch few times and have always had pleasant experience. I usually do transactions that I can't do at the ATM or online banking. I visited when their front door was covered with plywood. I wrote that in my feedback to them and they explained that somebody had crashed into it. Nice of them to follow up. They entry was from side door at the time. There were no lines. Somebody was able to help me right away and they were very polite and nice. My errand was done very quickly. Giving big thank you for staying open and being able to serve customers.

A First Tech employee (someone who seemed much more senior than anyone I'd talked to previously) contacted me shortly after writing my original review (below). She was very friendly and understanding, and said that while they still could not pursue my dispute further, they could compensate me for 50% of the lost funds. It is not necessarily the ideal outcome, but I am impressed that they seemed to care enough to at least do something about the matter. I am still somewhat concerned with whether their fraud protection service will cover unauthorized transactions should a similar event occur in the future, but hopefully that's not something I'll have to find out. [Original Review]: Beyond disappointed with First Tech. Have been a member with them for 12+ years. They are always touting their fraud protection services. Had an unauthorized transaction on my card last month, and disputed it. First time trying to go through this with First Tech. They denied with no investigation. Called to ask why, and the lady, while friendly, said she didn't know and would call me back. A week later, and still no call back. Repeated the process, was told they would call me back, again no call back. Left a message on their online portal, and no response there. In contrast, I've had to dispute a few transactions on my other card (Apple card). Each time, they responded immediately and settled the issue within a day or two. Versus First Tech, where it has now been two months and still no response from them. Beware, their fraud protection services are a fraud themselves. I'll be taking my banking elsewhere.

I had a terrible experience at First tech. I went to this branch at Cupertino last week, to send wire transfer . But Mildrid Garingarao , who is the senior manager at this branch, introduces a new policy in front of my face and refused me to send my wire transfer. The funds was deposited using Zelle to my First tech account from my own account at another bank. If you use Zelle the funds always become available immediately. But the manager, Mildrid Garingarao, don't want me to use their wire transfer for some reason. And she introduced new policy stating " The funds should be in your account for 10 business day in order to wire transfer them, because Zelle transfer takes 10 business days to clear". Everyone knows Zelle transfers are immediate. I asked her to show me the policy, but she refused to show me because it doesn't exist. I called customer service to ask them about their policy, the customer service agent was surprised and told me such policy doesn't exist. I was very frustrated that the FirstTech CU give the managers so much power to introduce new policies whenever they want. It's like anyone making policies in their own home for their kids. Here also the manager can deny you any service if they don't like you, example if they don't like your dress, They only need to introduce new policy right in front of your face. I was not allowed to wire transfer my money, but I was allowed to withdraw it in cash, doesn't make sense right? It won't make sense because that policy was introduced by that manager to deny me service and probably was deleted the next day. It is like a lawless bank which goes on the will of the managers. Please don't open account at firstTech, it is not worth the hard-time you get when you need basic services from them, I already paid the price for you. I wish I could give them 0 star.

If I could give this credit union a zero star I would. Extremely poor customer service. No one returns calls. Inept staff with conflicting answers. I am removing all funds from this credit union which is a shame as it used to be a great credit union when it was Addison Avenue. Extremely disappointed.
