Update 5/10/2019: Now they can't even put my deposit in the right account. *sigh* Update 4/18/2019: Your funds are no longer available until the next day when you make a deposit, because “we’re trying to get our online systems to match what is actually in the account.” Scary that it doesn’t already do that, and your poor systems shouldn’t stop me from getting the money in my account. Update 2/17/2019: They somehow took their bad bill pay system, and made it worse! The good news for me, though, is that I'm opening a new account elsewhere on Tuesday. Can't wait to be rid of them. Original: Since pointing out their issues to them does no good now that corporate is based in California, I guess I’ll add to the complaints here and give others the warning to not take their banking to First Tech. The new location is awful, for sure (aside from the new way of doing things being incredibly slow, you can actually walk up behind the “experience professionals” or whatever made up name they gave them and see their computer screens as they enter in other people's personal banking information), but it isn’t just that. Service here has tanked over the past couple years. My list of complaints is long - canceling my insurance without talking to me first, sending deposits into the drive-through (when it existed) and waiting 15 minutes without acknowledging my presence, showing me other member’s information on their monitors (like actually turning the screen around, not just because of the layout of the new branch), not being able to understand how a DBA works, telling me people I don’t know are on my account when they weren’t, inability to total a deposit, etc. There is more than this, but you get the idea. I truly have feared I’d wake up and they would have lost my information, showing a zero balance in my account because they are so poorly ran anymore, and the website has been so glitchy. I do not trust them with my money anymore. I have put up with a lot from them for a very long time, but I am currently looking for a new credit union and will switch as soon as I find one. DO NOT BANK HERE. You will regret it.

I hate this new branch. The inside looks more like an Apple store than a bank There is NO drive-up ATM which I consider not just an inconvience but a safety issue. As a woman I do not feel safe using walkup ATM's after hours. I've liked my banking experience with First Tech for years now but this location is going on my to be avoided list.

      Response from the owner

Hi Angela - We have a couple of other nearby locations that do have drive-up ATM's for your convenience: Nimbus and Tanasbourne. Hope that helps you with your banking needs!

Noisy, impersonal, insecure feeling, lack of drive through for ATM and for drive-up service are just some of the bad points. So disappointed that even though they "outgrew" the old location, that they also failed on customer service with the new set-up. Not a fan of the new location. Someone really muffed up with the decision to go with this architecture and design, and this particular location. Knowing they had to be so many feet away from Nike, they really made a poor location decision. Location, location, location is what any realtor will tell you, but also convenience, safety, and fundamentals are also needed.

I tried to open an account at FTCU Cedar Hills. The clerk spent over an hour, at which time I had to leave, but even then she did not have time to give me checks or a debit card. I came back the next day to close my account and got a cashier's check. I tried to deposit it to my other account, but the FTCU ATM rejected the deposit and would not return the check. People at FTCU were totally confused about how to give me my check back. I had to return three times, notarize forms, wait.... I recommend FTCU only to those with lots of time to waste.

      Response from the owner

The location and new building are fantastic, quick service and when I do have to wait the chairs are comfy and the WiFi is good. The new chick-fil-a is coming in and I’m stoked to have it next to my credit union. To all the people who are against the change, get with the program you anti-change bums. Also the people are very friendly.

I can appreciate change and innovation but I am NOT a fan of the waiting system here at this location. I feel like I’m at DMV. They took my name and told me to take a seat. I much prefer the traditional style. I hate that as I sit and wait, I can hear everyone’s banking issues. Feels like zero privacy. Makes me extremely uncomfortable. Even tho it’s a mile further, I’m going to the one near Tanasborne instead.

      Response from the owner

Xochitl, I am sorry to hear that our Cedar Hills location makes you feel uncomfortable. We have provided your feedback to our senior leaders to take into consideration for future builds.

Stopped in to cash two checks. Not something I do often, but I was close by. Walk in and try to figure out where to go, if there is a queue, one particular employee who directs customers? Nope. An employee who was in the middle of assisting another customer stops to tell me someone will be right with me (not so polite to do that to the customer she was helping). A couple people come in after me looking just as confused. Finally, someone comes around with a list to put your name on. Like for a table at a restaurant? While she was taking some names, a third employee comes up to me and asks my name and I tell her. She directs my to go have a seat on the couch (far back of the room). My name was not on the list. I wait. Two people who came in after me were served and I waited. FInally, I am called. Friendly employee takes me back to her "suite" which is a glorified cubicle where she has a laptop. She takes my checks and enters info into the laptop and then opens a drawer and pulls out a gigantic stack of cash in a paper envelope and starts rifling through it to give me my $62. So tacky and unprofessional. There is no logic in this set-up. Not to mention, I could walk around and look at other customer's banking on the computers in these freestanding kiosks. I have been a member here for over 25 years and this location is actually very close to my home. But I will use the Tanasbourne location if I need to go in and otherwise stick with mobile banking and ATMs.

      Response from the owner

Jill, I’m sorry to hear about your experience at our Cedar Hills location. This is a new concept for First Tech to provide our members with a differentiated banking experience. I have provided your feedback to the leadership team around the space and wait time.

This establishment does not want your business. Turned away twice when trying to open an account. The first time they said they were closing soon and to come back earlier. Fine, I did that and now they say I will need to make an appointment far ahead. Terrible business practice.

      Response from the owner

Hello Fayt, I’m sorry to hear about your experience. I would be happy to look into this for you. Please send us an email to [email protected] with your contact info and more details about your interaction so we can review your situation and follow up with you. Thank you!
