  I banked with Chase for 3 years before switching to First Merchants. I honestly wish I would have started banking with First Merchants. They offer a special "First Direct Account" for all First Responders after verifying affiliation with a Public Safety Agency. They are the only local bank to have this type of program for first responders that I know of. It seemed like the Chase Bank ATM was always having problems and the times that I did have trouble it took days to resolve or get told that there's nothing they could do to help even after talking to multiple different customer care associates. Any time I have any questions or need help with my account at First Merchants, I am always treated with the utmost respect and professionalism in a timely manner. They even give out dog treats to customers when their dogs are present with them! I plan to continue banking with First Merchants for as long as they are around!

  Always treated be well since I have been with them. Then tried to rearrange some financing and everything was going well till the underwriter picked something out that they didn't like. So after the appraisal was paid for they denied the load and would not return the $400 plus. So watch yourself because times have evidently changed and they are really unfair. I do not trust them at all!!!

  I too have paid overdraft fees...you know why? I had overdrafted, we all knew about the fees when we opened our accounts and to act as if it were the bank's fault, in any way, is the same as a spoiled child who was punished for something they knew THEY had done wrong. Grow up! The world is a cruel place ...this bank is not!

  Horrible bank. I feel the same as the previous review. These people are equivalent to thieves and should be closed down. Manipulating our account to make more on overdraft fees and being poor just pushes us deeper and deeper into a hole you can't get out of. If I could rate no stars I would

  Staff is unfriendly and make mistakes on a regular basis . Our accounts were set up wrong to begin with . We find discrepancies several times a year. Keep an eye on your account and know your balance.

  Honestly we had never had a problem with the bank tell today! We have deposited $270 and they have put only $170 so I had to go back and now waiting almost 30min to get the problem fixed and now about to be late for work because of it!
