  As first time home owners, we had little knowledge of what we were getting ourselves into. We began with a rough previous experience and thought we’d never get our dream home. We were then referred to call Jon. From the first phone call to first meeting, he assured us he was well to his word. With professional, knowledgeable, trustworthy, supportive, and friendly characteristics, Jon’s rapport was built to get us through this entire process comfortably. Jon took us step by step and made sure we understood no matter how many times we would ask questions in different forms. From his days off, he allowed us to keep in contact with any questions or concerns we had as he always replied back promptly. He was able to find what worked for us best including home insurance.   My husband and I worked with Jonathan on the purchase of our first house. He and his team at Family Mortgage Company of Hawaii were awesome! Buying a home is defiantly one of the most intense experiences and Jonathan walked us through it with ease. He was prompt, knowledgeable and patient 😊, especially in answering all of my questions. I truly felt that he was working for us and wanted the best for us. He walked us through every aspect of the financing and was honest. He even called me on a Sunday to go over details, talk next steps and to listen to me. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to obtain financing for home.   Jon and Family Mortgage company has helped me with the purchase of my first home and then again, a few years later on a second purchase. On both occasions, Jon has walked us through, thoroughly explaining the process to us. Jon was able to secure us two great interest rates both times. The interest rates were much better than we were able to find searching on our own. On top of that, he made it easy to explain the many different acronyms and terminology that may seem foreign to new home buyers. Jon even went as far as to contact me a few years after the purchase of my first house to remind me to remove the PMI when I qualified to do so, saving me nearly $100 a month!

  When we started looking for a house, we had no prior knowledge of mortgages or if we would qualify. Jon made the entire process simple, painless, & worked to get us the best deal possible. He took the time to explain our options & what we needed & wanted to know. He was able to get everything approved & closed escrow extremely quickly.   I was a first time home buyer and Jon made everything really simple. From answering any of my questions to guiding me through the entire process. Jon was professional, knowledgeable and trustworthy. After I purchased my home I did some updates and ended up refinancing a year and half later. Again, first time refinancing. He walked me through the process. I not only got rid of PMI but also got a better rate! I also recommend my sister to Jon to refinance her house. She did. I hope I have an opportunity to work with Jon again in the future.

  Buying a new home can be exciting but it can also be terrifying. I was absolutely terrified walking into Jon's office to buy my first home but that terror left as soon as Jon took the time to really talk to me about the process and about what to expect. He made me feel comfortable and at ease even though I had no idea what I was doing. The patience and attention to detail that Jon demonstrated from consultation through completion was unmatched and the advice that he gave (and continues to give) has saved me a lot of time, money, and stress. The work that he does for his clients doesn't end at signing. I've contacted Jon on more than one occasion since the purchase of my new home with questions about home improvements and the purchasing of additional property and each time was met with an immediate response and advice on options that make the most financial sense for me in my current situation (and he does this at no charge whatsoever). His work ethic and experience make him an excellent choice but for me it's his honesty and genuine care for his clients' needs that make him the only choice. I have no doubt that I am sitting in this dream home of mine simply because I chose to walk into Jon's office that day and I am so grateful for everything that he has done and continues to do for me and my family.   Jon and the staff at Family Mortgage were a joy to work with. My loan ran into some unusual problems, but Jon was able to explain the situation in an easy to understand manner, and more importantly, walked me through step-by-step to get it resolved and closed.   As in other reviews, we share the same sentiments when it comes to Jon. We sold our home and it was a no-brainer when it came time to look for someone to help us with the purchase of our new home in Hilo. Jon had helped us with a refinance on our previous home and since then we knew there was no one else we would rather work with to secure our new mortgage. He is very knowledgeable and always looks out for his clients' best interests, even beyond his own. He is an expert in his field so you have the confidence that he will dot all the i's and cross all the t's. He is detail oriented, which is crucial in his line of work and very critical to avoid delays, which can have financial consequences. He was very patient, was easy to talk to, and never gave you the sense he was rushing or pushy during what was often an emotionally trying time for us due to the nature of purchasing a home (outside of the financing). We highly recommend Jon who takes great pride in what he does and is very humble. He's experienced, very dependable and trustworthy, and we were blessed to have had the opportunities to work with him. We are very happy the way in which our mortgage terms were finalized and the seamless way he made the entire process look. We are certain that no one could have done better than what Jon did for us and for that entire experience, we are forever grateful.

  Purchasing your first home can be a very intimidating process so we asked around who people recommended for a mortgage broker and they said Jonathan Kimura at Family Mortgage! From the start Jonathan made us feel very comfortable with the process, explaining each step and making sure we understood what was going on.
