Education First Federal Credit Union Reviews

Kristi Sellers5I love doing business with Education First at our Silsbee location. Cindy was a lifesaver for me this week because she helped this untechy senior citizen get signed up for on line banking. I could not do it on my own. I am so grateful for her patience. Hopefully I can manage it now, but she said to call her if I have any trouble. Love EDFCU!
Response from the ownerHi Kristi, thank you for sharing this great service experience with others! We will be sure to let Cindy know how much you appreciated her help! Thanks for being a member.

Louise Humphrey5My experience with education 1st has been wonderful. With the help of the employees there they make you feel like home. Jessica was extremely helpful in expediting the loan I took out. And Trudy was very very wonderful. I would Refer education 1st to anyone that need it there assistance.
Response from the ownerThanks for the 5 star review, Louise! It's great to know that your experience with Education First has been positive, and we appreciate the opportunity to serve your financial needs!

Preston Broom1Very disappointed with the Beaumont drive-thru services. Been a member over 40 years. Been sitting in line for 30 mins so far and still no movement. I have not used this Beaumont drive thru location in about 30 years. I am very thankful for my small town Brookshire Brothers personal service. I understand the challenges that Covid 19 has presented, but you should have tellers for Every drive thru lane. This is unacceptable.
Response from the ownerPreston, we truly appreciate your membership with us and are sorry to hear that your most recent experience at our Rosedale branch left you disappointed. We also appreciate that you recognize the strain that Covid-19 has placed on everyone, us included. I hope you will keep in mind that with our lobbies closed, we are taking care of a lot of complex transactions via the drive-thru, some of which take more time than others. Thank you for your patience with us, and we will all get through this together. In the meantime, if we can be of further assistance, please give us a call at 409.898.3770 or send us an email at [email protected].

Laura Michelle1So disappointed in Education First. I am new to the Beaumont area and was recommended to bank here. Since covid, the wait times for a drive up teller is horrendous. Plan on waiting at least 45 minutes or longer. They need to re-evaluate their procedures.
Response from the ownerHi Laura, we are sorry to hear that you are disappointed. Certainly, COVID-10 has challenged us all in ways we didn't know that we would be challenged in. The wait times are only temporary due to our lobbies being closed to protect the health and safety of our members. Please keep in mind we have six drive-thru lanes at Lamar branch, and five at our Rosedale branch in Beaumont - looking forward to serving you at one of them soon. Thanks for being a member.

Christian Queen1I am very disappointed in this institution. I have been a member for over 10 years. I do most of my banking here. Recently I had the misfortune of incurring 6 - $27.50 charges ($165.00) in overdraft fees. This was after a holiday and unfortunately I made a deposit that was one minute and a few seconds too late (9:01 am). I was not allowed to speak to a branch manager to see if she would perhaps give me a one time courtesy of removing some of the fees that I incurred. But, instead was told only one fee ($27.50 out of the $165.00) could be removed. I was told that it was up to the branch manager's to remove any more of the fees, and of course I could not speak to her myself. Needless to say over 10 years of banking, loans, and credit cards was not worth more than $27.50. I realize that the late deposit was my fault, however, I thought that I would have received a lot better customer service for my years of banking with them than this. I see where another customer on these reviews had two fees removed, so they could have done more. I am now in the process of removing all of my money and began banking somewhere else. It probably won't matter to the credit union because I see that my business was not that important anyway.

Robert Hebert1Card was skimmed at a gas station without our knowledge and charges ran up. Fraud department was little to no help and refused to refund the fraudulent charges. Charges were made hours away from where we live while we were at a school event for our child. Sad part is we have used this FCU for over 25years.
Response from the ownerRobert, we are sorry to hear about your unsatisfactory experience. We value your membership and would like to know more about it. Please DM us on FB, email us at [email protected], or call us at 409.898.3770 and we will put you in touch with a supervisor.

Leslie Spell5My husband and I recently opened an account for a new car loan. Education First was quick and went above and beyond to make sure my husband and I were satisfied. They had the lowest interest rate around!
Response from the ownerLeslie, we are glad to hear that our level of service exceeded your expectations - it's what we strive for every day, at every encounter! Thanks for the great review!

John Guedry1Sadly, I can no longer recommend this credit union to anyone. I'm beginning to believe there is nothing they can't do wrong. Mishandled transactions, constantly having to change debit cards, bogus "security" flags causing transaction declines, inept member services reps, inefficient branch operations (slow, slow, slow), intrusive tellers, rude phone agents who are clearly bothered that you called, defensive management who make it obvious why operations have fallen apart. We've already moved our primary household and business accounts elsewhere, and as soon as all loans are paid off we'll be severing our relationship entirely. They just can't get it together.
Response from the ownerJohn, we are so sorry to read this review. Thank you for providing us with your honest feedback as we are always looking to improve anywhere we can. We value all of our members and are sorry to have lost you. If there is anything we can do to rectify the situation, please direct message us on FB or email us at [email protected]. Thank you.

C Blanton5Love the branch in Silsbee TX ez and fast and friendly faces. Have been backing with them for over 35 yrs, thru name changes, buy outs etc. Just need to give credit cards to loyal long standing customers. The debit card is OK and used as a Visa or MasterCard but need a loyalty Visa with credit limit imo. Thanks wishing for a branch in Lumberton next. And the app to take pics with our smart phones and deposit like Mobile credit union has.
Response from the ownerCarole-Thank you for taking the time to share your kind words with us in your review. We appreciate your patronage to us over the years. We look forward to seeing you next time!

glen johnson1I was at this bank from 1980 until jan. 2011. and loved this bank. I have always had disability insurance with them CUNA. remember that name. then in 2009 I started having storks back to back 3 of them. but soon found out CUNA only pays 80% of the note and 80% of the gross. it took all my savings but I paid off a $40k 18 wheeler a couple motorcycle and a camper. but I couldn't pay off my 07 ford. I begged them to work with me. they wouldn't. so I had no choice but to give the truck back. now they have put a judgement against me. if I had known that I would have took my cash and went to a new bank and told them to come get it all. because my credit is now back up to a 650.I cant get a loan even with a co signer. i'm getting better and want to go back to work but I cant because of them.
