  Came over a few days ago to have quite a few rings appraised and was very happy with the results. The man who helped me was very kind, and explained everything in detail. He was willing to test any gold jewelry I had even if it wasn't totally clear on whether or not it was real. I got a very good price for the rings! He explained to us the value of gold vs. silver and why we would've only gotten $10 or so had we not had any gold. I found another one later and wanted to come back since I had such a great experience and had a little more understanding of the value of metals. The ring I have appeared to be 18k and was stamped, so I wanted to have a professional opinion on it. The next time I came, there was a woman who seemed rather displeased upon seeing me. I showed her the ring and she looked at the stamp and said it was only worth $25 without testing the gold. I decided to keep the ring, but I'm disappointed since I had such a good experience the first time around. The woman seemed very annoyed at our presence overall, which was such a stark difference from our initial visit.

  I brought in a few collectible coins for consideration and was disappointed with the offer. The counter woman was either trying to undercut me or I believe most likely did not know what basic .900-.925 American/British silver coins are worth. I admit that she was at least fairly pleasant. I simply went to a superior pawn shop down the street on Devon named Cash Exchange Pawn Shop 1236 W. Devon. They immediately knew the situation and gave me my asking price which was more than double the offer from The Devon Pawn Shop. Do yourself a favor and if selling or pawning go to Cash Exchange rather than Devon Pawn Shop.

  They were trying to give me half of what silver is worth, ripoff. Update... After the owner made his comments below, I'll further elaborate on what happened. I purchased. 999 pure 1oz silver coins minted, nothing fancy, but newly minted coins from an online retailer, jm bullion. They were not old or corrosive, shiny newly minted coins of pure silver. I had 6 of them, worth 90 dollars. She and the owner standing right there offers me 48 bucks. How much processing could there be, they were already minted. That's how out of touch he is with average people. I needed the cash because I recently lost health insurance and the pharmacy wanted four hundred dollars for my blood pressure meds. So that's the exact story. Don't go to them. Go anywhere in Chicago but this guy....

  I am sorry you felt the offer was too low. However, silver is currently only at 15 dollars per oz and has been going down for some time now. Furthermore, this is the price for pure silver, not items you brought in, which would obviously be even less. You also need to count the cost of processing and recycling the silver purchased. Hope that helps explain some of your concerns.

  I have always felt like I have received a fair, honest transaction. Also being treated with respect and dignity when life requires one to visit a pawn shop is nice way to start getting back on track.

  I have been using this pawnshop for many years as emergency money. They are very friendly and fast, and always help me as much as they can. They wait for me if I am short on money to pick up. I would recommend this place.

  I had a good experience at this pawn shop. Needed a small loan and got it in 4 minutes. They take any jewelry and the whole thing was very easy. The woman there was very knowledgeable .

  This is the place to go. Very thoughtful and fair with each transaction. I would recommend coming here to anyone because i have never left out the door with any negative feelings as i have with other establishments. If you need the service it is worth checking out...
