This pawn shop the best in the area! I have been a customer for quite a while now. I have interacted with almost all of the staff they are all amazing! I have always received the greatest customer service. The owner is very professional and will try his best to help you out. His wife as well is lovely! Don’t ever let any of those crazy reviews sway you away from doing business with them. You won’t regret it!

OK, I shouldn't rate my own shop but..... We have fun every day. We try to be kind and respectful of all who enter our doors. We have created a comfortable enviornment with lots to look at and enjoy. Our pricing is flexable, depending on the item. Come check us out. PS. We now do Jewelry repair and watch repair and service. So the next time you need a watch battery or a watch service, or jewelry repair, give us a chance to earn your business.

Spoke with owner, offered a price. He said he would honor his offer when I returned. Returned the next day, they did not honor it. Even Mr. V was embarrassed. Stay away. Goodness, you are obtuse. Sunglasses, no, the items were not sunglasses. The day I walked in you offered a price. As I was leaving your store you said the price would be honored once I returned. The following day, I called and spoke with Mr. V who confirmed the same price you offered. I drove in and, lo and behold, the price was no longer valid. That is dishonest. Moreover, you need to to check the dictionary and learn the meaning of slander. Mr. V was so embarrassed that he could not even make eye contact as I left your store. As I mentioned before to anyone reading this, stay away!

      Response from the owner

Hi Bill, My Apologies. You are correct. it was not the sunglasses. That's why I was confused. Please forgive my assertion about your cousin. I have sense called the family and straighten all that out (which seems like the normal thing to do in a disagreement). Now that we are on the same page.... your item was the 1847 Silver Plated silverware that you thought was solid silver) and earnings. I believe I quoted you a price and told you that I would honor it. I also told you that I wanted the silverware for my jeweler, Mr. V (who later decided he did not want it). I spent a lot of time with you (was happy to do it). When you first came in you thought you had solid silver. We looked it up and spent some good time. I thought it was a good experience. Apparently it was not. I told you to go and try to find your best price and then come back to me. When you returned, I was not here and instead of coming back when I was here, you tried to make the deal with those who were running the shop. I DO need to say again Mr. V did not want your silverware and was not in support of your note on google. You asked my to look up the meaning of slander. SEE BELOW::: SLANDER: noun 1.the action or crime of making a false spoken statement damaging to a person's reputation."he is suing the TV network for slander" synonyms:defamation, defamation of character, character assassination, misrepresentation of character, calumny, libel; More verb1. make false and damaging statements about (someone)."they were accused of slandering the head of state"synonyms: defame, defame someone's character, blacken someone's name, give someone a bad name, tell lies about, speak ill/evil of, drag through the mud/mire, throw/sling/fling mud at, sully someone's reputation, libel, smear, run a smear campaign against, cast aspersions on, spread scandal about, besmirch, tarnish, taint, misrepresent; malign, traduce, vilify, calumniate, disparage, denigrate, decry, run down; slur; informaldo a hatchet job on; rarederogate, asperse, vilipend "they were accused of slandering the head of state" A good example of slander would be your statement "Even Mr. V was embarrassed" and "Stay away". When you used V's name to proffer believably to your false statement, according to the definition, you committed slander. Had you come back when I was here I certainly would have honored my price. If you had come back the next day, even after being turned down (by someone who did NOT make the commitment), I would have honored MY commitment. Instead you got on google and told everyone to stay away from my shop because I was a liar (my interpretation). WOW.... I can handle someone coming in and telling me what they think or calling to express there concerns... But, writing a review to hurt my business.... WOW. No reason to continue. I am sure you will respond, and i will not. You may have the last word sir. My customers are of a different caliber than this. I am sorry you did not have a good experience. We try hard to help any way we can. We usually get it right. This time it just didn't work out. I do hope you found a buyer for you beautiful silverware and earrings. 2

Needed 6 screws for watch caseback, since they do jewelry repair, I figured they might have them or point me in the direction. He told me it would be $78.....for six tiny screws for a Tissot. Then got an attitude with me when I questioned the outrageous price. Hayman Jewelers did an entire polish job and authentication on a Ebel GMT for me for less than he wanted for six tiny screws. Looking around, his whole inventory is overpriced, He wanted $400 for 1990s Quartz Zodiac Seawolf that typically sells for ~$100-150 on Ebay. Place is a joke Edit: The "gaps" the owner is filling in at his reply to this is complete fubar ! also, the $78 he was wanting to charge was just for the screws/battery. NOT a full service, which would be removing/cleaning movement and replacing all gaskets. He was very rude off the bat when I told him $78 dollars for some screws was too much. I was able to find out the screw size off a watch discussion site, got a dozen of them for under $10 shipped. Example of how overpriced they are - Late 90s Zodiac Seawolf- their price ~$400. VS trending on Ebay for ~$150 Owner acts like a child. Avoid at all costs!

Good Morning Corey, Just read your review. We take complaints about our business very seriously. I wanted to fill in a few blanks so that we could allow our readers to get a full picture of what happened. When you came to the shop with your “Rare” (your words) “Rock” watch, you asked if we had the 6 screws to fit the back. I told you I did not know, but would give it to our watch professional and let him look. You gave us a watch with no battery and told us that it had been at another establishment for a while and they were unable to find the screws you were requesting. After a short period of time I got back with you and gave you a price of 78.00, which included the screw (and the time to find them), replacing the battery, and a full service of the watch. When you told me you only wanted to screws, I told you that we would not be able to do that because our watch guy would have to spend literally hours hunting through his junk drawers to find the matching screws (which we were willing to do). I also said that we would not just hunt the screws, (which would have cost .25 cents) without rebuilding the watch because of our commitment to quality. I thought we had come up with a very good solution to your watch issue. You told me you had several people whom you could go too that could get this done very quickly. Seeing that we could not be helpful I simple agreed that that would be the best course for you. As far as the attitude… I am truly sorry. When you began to make very derogatory remarks about our watch man (whom you never met) and comments about our shop, the staff, and our business, I did certainly get attitude. For that I am truly sorry. We have been in business for 35 years and have very few unsatisfied customers. We try very hard to make sure that everyone who leaves this store is pleased with the service they received. I wanted to fill in the blanks so that our potential customers did not think that they would walk into a hostile, belligerent, ill mannered, dishonest, business. Far from it. We have many who exclusively shop here because of the way we treat all customers and the super value of our merchandise and pricing. A Universal Pawn is not a Joke. We stand behind our products and service.

The owners wife is very rude and needs to be more professional and respectful to others. Other than that they have lots of goodies and collectibles that i had my eye on but i guess im not welcome there anymore..

      Response from the owner

Often times on Google owners don’t respond to reviews. I am different. I read every one of them and am very involved in the 30 year reputation we have worked hard to earn. I read your review. As I told you when you were in my shop, I was out of the shop, on the day you first came in, for health reasons, and my beloved was filling in for me (thank you honey). In your visit to our shop, when my wife had difficulty finding your account, I was told by my team, that you became agitated and irritated. In the exchange that followed, your words and attitude toward her caused her to fill intimidated (which I told you in our conversation). She came home very upset. In our conversation, I truly thought when I told you that I was in the hospital, and that my wife was filling in for me on the day you came in, you would step back and say “I am sorry I made your wife feel that way”. Instead you persisted to say that our shop was unprofessional and that she should have been more accommodating. As I contemplated a continued relationship and the future, I did not see a way to continue our relationship and maintain a good reciprocal exchange, so, I did encourage you to find a shop that would better meet your needs. After reading your review of our shop, it seems you agree. I am sorry that A-Universal Pawn was unable to adequately serve you. I hope you find a shop that that is a better fit. No one should have to feel disrespected in a transaction meant to help in difficult situations. For that, let me sincerely apologize. Thank you for sharing your feelings. We can’t get better if we don’t hear from those we are dedicated to serve. God Bless and good luck as you move forward
