Shane Krogstad1I had my mortgage, line of credit and checking with Western. It was always difficult getting a payment applied to my line of credit. They made mistakes on several occasions and it was tough getting them corrected. My final straw was depositing money into my checking account and I couldn't apply it to my LOC until my deposit cleared even though the transfer was between 2 Western accounts. I went in with cash to pay off my LOC and close my account that same day I was so upset. I was then charged a satisfaction fee of $25.00 to close my account. Being charged a satisfaction fee because I was closing my accounts because I was dissatisfied??? Ironic.

Casey Fines1This bank is horrible. I had multiple bank accounts there for years. Here’s my experience with them. One of my business’s routinely made it’s daily deposits there. Personally, I would routinely grab funds to fill my ATM. The teller’s would call almost every 3rd time and ask me if they gave me the correct amount of cash when they were trying to close out there shift at or near the end of the day. Apparently they weren’t sure what they’d given me. They were off on bill counts more than any other bank that I’ve been around. I was so unsure of it that I would count bills 100% of the time prior to leaving the bank property. Currently, I have accounts at seven banks. It’s not like I don’t know what “normal” is for a bank. About every third day there would be deposit corrections on the business account. I was new in business at the time and didn’t realize it until a few more business’s in that...... this was NOT normal. Their online banking system makes you change passwords every 3 months. Super annoying if you’re not in the accounts all of the time. Now today...... this takes the cake. I was written a check by a friend and I stopped by their bank to cash it since the check was drawn on their bank and they proceeded to tell me that there was a fee to cash this check........ unbelievable. I was told that the only way I could avoid this fee is to open an account. I did not want the fee.......so..... I guess I’m a customer again. The banker then proceeds to ask me if I’ve got other issues in my life cause he just can’t understand why I’d get so upset over a fee to cash a check at a bank where the account is at and where I’ve banked for years prior. Interestingly enough. I had a great morning. Sometimes it’s the point. You don’t deserve a fee to cash a check that comes from your bank. It’s not a surprise as I didn’t recognize any of the tellers ........ they must have had so much turnover. Unbelievable!! Knowing what I know around town banking in a few places......If I was new in town and looking for a good bank...... I’d give BlackRidge Bank or Gate City a try...... they’re great to work with.....
