I have never had a bad experience with WECU and my last visit set that in stone. I came into the branch hoping to open my very first credit card and begin to build my credit. For context, I am a clueless goblin with little understanding of money, walking in there knowing basically nothing about the process of having a credit card or building credit. Needless to say, I was pretty nervous and unsure. (dept is horrifying) The loan advisor Danielle was so helpful, so knowledgeable, so kind, and so patient. I cannot tell you how grateful I was to come in and be guided through the process. She helped me fill out all the papers, walked me through everything I needed to know, gave me tips on how to manage my finances and build credit, and answered all of my many many questions with the patience of a saint. Plus she is a total hoot. 10/10. Thank you so much for being there for the community, WECU. y'all are homies

With the opening of branch operations, I decided to go into the brank to do some transactions instead of waiting in line in the drive-through. I was very delighted to see the excellent steps being made to keep the members and staff safe. I was met at the door and asked if I had an appointment to sign documents or needed to process a transaction. I was then physically led to a station that had hand sanitizer and was watched as I used it. I then approached the teller line that was socially distanced. There was a large plexiglass shield in front of the teller window and before I approached the window, the staff member sanitized the entire window area both on the member and staff side before I was asked to approach. I felt completely safe the entire time in the branch.

This is the nicest bank I've ever been in. The people are so very nice and went above and beyond to help me. I've been in a lot of banks and I worked in one for yrs. This is about the best!

Not only is part of their online banking hard to use, they are incompetent with their customer service, I waited over half an hour after my appointment was supposed to start before someone came out to help me, any time I’ve unfroze a card it declines everything until I call or go in person. There’s little to no communication between the call center and the branches which make it that much harder to get answers to my questions. I’ve been with WECU since I’ve started banking and they progressively get worse. Bank somewhere else.

      Response from the owner

Hi Rachel, thank you for voicing your feedback. We are very sorry about the experience you had during your appointment and for the other difficulties you've faced. We take this feedback seriously and will use it to improve for the future.

It was shocking to actually have an enjoyable experience while opening a bank account. The staff was helpful and friendly. I was excited to learn that they make the debit cards there so there is no ten day wait! Even with an eight minute wait in the comfortable lobby, we were all set up and out of the door in twenty minutes. I have heard nothing but good things about banking with WECU so i look forward to it.

Been sitting in the the drive thru for almost 30 mins already. If you’re not allowing people in the lobby due to covid, you guys need to figure out a better system on making drive thru service quicker and more efficient. I’m at the WECU on sunset, there’s four open lanes with only two bank tellers? And lines in all four lanes stretching to the road? Do better.

      Response from the owner

Hi Alley, your feedback and the feedback from other members has prompted us to speed up our timeline on opening our branches. Our current plan is to reopen branch lobbies on September 22. Thank you for voicing your opinion and for your membership.

Wecu did an incredibly scummy thing to my family. WECU did a transfer from my sister in law's account to an unrelated account I am on with my husband. This was with zero communication between WECU and anyone on any of these accounts. My husband and his sister are on one account for emergencies. My husband and I are on other accounts together. It is incredibly unethical and wrong that you'd remove funds from the account of a totally separate person to cover MY account, when I have nothing to do with my sister's finances. It clearly would've been very easy for me to just steal from her. How does wecu have the right to make the assumption that it wasn't me, and that I related to the other account in any way? We have one account with thousands of dollars and one with far less and a third person completely unrelated to everything. I cannot believe how wrong that is. If I had been called by WECU, I would have moved money over. Instead you stole from someone I have no financial connection to. Insane. We will be closing our accounts with WECU as soon as we return to Bellingham. After posting this exact review to the Holly branch, I just received a response to a review I left. I have reason to assume that WECU is either lying, or didn't bother to actually read the review I left. The review response claims that you communicated with parties affected. I'd like to point out, again, that I am an affected party, as I am on the account that was overdrawn. I was not contacted in any way. My husband was also not contacted prior to the other account over-drafted by WECU. Furthermore, if the third party affected, Reisa Newmark, had actually been contacted, she would not have called my husband in full panic about money that was stolen from her account. It is completely unfair and unethical that you specifically CAUSED overdrafts from my sister-in-law's account--an account that has nothing to do with ME, and an account that had significantly less money than other accounts my husband and I are on. My husband was contacted about the overdraft and made a promise to pay. He failed to do that. That's his fault. However, I am also on that account, and I received NO calls, emails, or any correspondence. Neither did Reisa Newmark, the person on the account that money was deducted from. Furthermore, my husband and I, who were both on the over-drafted account, have a third WECU account that had thousands of dollars and NO unrelated people. It makes no sense that you made the decision to deduct from an account with no money, rather than our business account that had thousands. You hurt someone by doing that. I'm appalled that the response to my review contained actual blatant lies rather than any effort to make anything right. If you believe that WECU didn't do anything wrong, please let me know the best way to come in and close all 4 of my accounts with WECU. I will be doing my part to make sure no other individual, family, OR business owner in need of banking or merchant services that I know will make the mistake of using WECU.

Edit: Hello Alex, We can see you're frustrated and understand where you're coming from. We'd like to have a conversation with you to help you understand the process we followed and discuss next steps. A manager will be giving you a call. Original Response: Hello Alex, when an account is overdrawn for a significant number of days and is delinquent it is our policy to look at other accounts the member owns to bring the balance current. It looks like we did communicate with parties affected. There may still be options to restructure what has happened but that's the extent we can get into without sharing more personal details in this public space. We encourage you, if you'd like to explore alternative options, to email us at [email protected].

Awesome inside. Excellent service. They have all the options of a bank here. Specific line available at this branch for business customers, which is cool. VERY busy during lunch, as are most banks though.

Had to stop by the other day and while the drive through line was long (for obvious reasona) the teller was so cheerful and friendly - it was like I was their first customer of the day!
