  After a year of being brushed off by the staff member who had been assigned to me, I finally was passed off to someone else who knew what they were doing and helped me get my car loan completed.

  No clue what happened at this branch. Service used to be quick and efficient, but I now often find myself waiting in line for 5-10 minutes on average, regardless the time of day I visit, just to make a simple transaction. In fact, I'm writing this review now as I continue to wait. I don't know if management has turned over or they just pay the tellers sub par wages. Whatever the cause, I loathe coming to this location as it ends up wasting too much of my time which is a real shame because I used to love this branch.

  I have been a UWCU member for several years now. I've had a great experience whether online, in the branch or over the phone. UWCU's online banking is very user friendly, including their mobile app. I also know UWCU through a professional relationship and can see why they have also been named as a "Best Place to Work". They have a unique, positive culture and it shows in the service their branch and corporate teams provide.

  UW Credit Union are my favorite banks. I used to bank at Waukesha State Bank and the people weren't very friendly, the hours weren't good, the drive thru took forevvvvver, and they were super stingy about giving loans, even after I had a car loan through them that I payed on time, every time. Last week I was one of the people who unfortunately had my car totaled due to the flooding so I needed to get a new loan to get a different car. A very nice worker at corporate set me up with a loan at a great rate and said all I had to do was stop in at a UW Credit union and I could pick up the check. I went to the Middleton branch for the first time because it was closest to my house, and that was at 2:30 pm. The car I was picking up was 3 hours away and the dealership closed at 6 pm. Well there was an issue getting my money because one of the sheets I needed to sign didn't go through in the email so they sent me to a girl named Ashley. (Shorter, long blonde hair) She may be the most helpful person I've ever met. I told her my situation and she moved as fast as she could to make sure I made it. She was literally running between the front desk and her office. She got me out of the bank by 3 which left me with just enough time to get to the dealer. (And that was after resigning papers because my wife's last name is different.) So long story short we made it to the dealer on time and I really believe if Ashley wasn't the one helping us I wouldn't have gotten me car. That's the kind of help you don't see too often anymore, she was amazing.

  PSA: Never get an account with a bank if you can help it. Always go with a credit union. Banks are for profit and they want to make money off you. Credit unions are member owned, they exist for the benefit of their members. I've been with UW Credit Union since I was an adult. Sometimes you cant avoid accounts with (other) banks and I've also been with Wachovia, Wells Fargo, and a few others. I've had very few bad experiences with UWCU and very few good experiences with the others. If you ever have an issue with UWCU or your account(s) there, go in and talk to them. Even if it's your fault. Sometimes they waive fees. Sometimes they have other ways of helping you. Biggest downside to UWCU is that there are sometimes cheaper places to get loans and mortgages. Since they are member owned, they dont take big risks. If your credit isnt perfect, downpayment isnt big enough, income isnt high enough, etc, you might end up with higher interest rates or closing costs than you'd find elsewhere. Shop around for big stuff. This particular location is one of my secrets-- most of the high traffic locations, you're out of luck sitting down and talking to someone without an appointment. This location is quiet enough that if I dont have time to make an appointment, I can just walk in. They used to have great free coffee.

  Only drive thru open but yet one teller working the window. Now at my 2nd bank and still wait minimum 10 minutes. May want to look at how they are staffing the drive thru and customers time.

  UWCU is an excellent bank with caring and committed employees. I have been a member for 5+ happy years and recommend all my friends join.
