A lot of the reviews on here are outdated. Sure, things were rocky after the system upgrade a couple years ago, but that’s completely normal for any company that undergoes a massive change like that. With time, things got better and are now better than ever! I love the service I get at each branch I visit.

Terrible customer service, terrible website and online services. Clunky, old, and not user friendly. No online chat for customer service. edit: When they upgraded their online software, it cancelled all of my automatic payments without me knowing about it. So my inbound transfers stopped and my car payments stopped. My bad for not checking, but after 2 months of missed payments, they sent to collections and hit my credit. Not a single phone call, not a single letter. I paid the outstanding payments immediately of course, but when I asked them if they were going to take responsibility for their system breaking and for not giving me any kind of heads up they just sort of shrugged. Not their problem that they hit my credit for 50+ points. Atrocious.

They went from a 5 star to a 1 star when they did the "upgrade". UCCU has gone from being a wonderful customer oriented, intuitive banking system to a nightmare. Online features like editing a recurring transfer - gone. In it's place is a complicated online experience. Account number are now 12 digits long "for security purposes". No longer can you call their number and quickly get a human to answer a simple question. Now there are waits of 20 - 30 minutes. No longer is there an option "Perform a transaction" when you call. You queue up with all the other poor saps trying to figure out how the new complicated system works. If you're looking for a credit union, look elsewhere. That is what we will be doing, sadly. Been members for 16 years.

I tried to open a business account here and was treated like a nuisance by the loan officer. Instead of having my questions answered he just assumed a bunch of things and turned me away telling me to come back later with the right documents. After doing some research I realized that I did have all the right documents with me so I went back later and tried to get help from the same loan officer. Instead of really looking or checking with his supervisors, he kinda just snubbed me again and gave me a smug smile as he told me to come back later with all the documents. Got in my car, went to another UCCU branch and was helped by a much more friendly and helpful loan officer who second checked with his supervisors about the documents. Everything was in order and I left the that branch with a new business account. Such a different experience. Generally speaking my wife and I have liked banking with UCCU , but for some reason we have had our share of problems with this specific branch in the past. Its too bad, because its the closest branch to where we live and we really do like UCCU as a whole.

There isn't enough staff every time I go, so now not only is UCCU farther away with the new location, but the service has gone downhill so I have to wait longer than I ever have before. Today, two days before Christmas there was only one worker inside to help a long line of patrons (many of them were elderly and were standing in line to keep their spot in line), and only one other worker for the drive up. I saw that there was one other worker's station with their backpack on the back of the chair, but they were on a break or something and it is not the workers fault that there wasn't enough staff scheduled.

I switched over to UCCU from Wells Fargo, and boy, am I glad I made the switch. UCCU is very transparent with their policies and fees, forgiving of human error especially when you have a good record, and have nice, considerate staff. There was a bit of a transitional period while they were changing their online banking that was a little rough for a bit- but the bank handed out free ice cream cards to us while they were still working out the kinks. I really have no complaints for this bank- just the opposite. I wish UCCU was also in Texas. My wife and I will miss it when we have to move.

In the last year with UCCU I have had a lot of frustrating experiences. They somehow lost one of my loan applications even though a week before I was talking to a representative about it. My brother was waiting on a debit card for a month and a half and because he was on an LDS mission I had to be the middle man. After 2 weeks of us setting up the account I called on the status of the cardand they told me it would take awhile, another month after that conversation I call and they guy tells me the card had never been ordered. Every time I go in the service is fine and they are polite, but these little mixups (there are more I didn't mention) have really made me lose my confidence (and not to mention patience) with UCCU.

It was super easy to open an account at UCCU. As a young adult, I was nervous to do this by myself, but my fears were quickly forgotten when I walked in. I would highly recommend choosing UCCU.
