      We got green light after green light regarding a car loan for my daughter. We were ensured all was fine especially with great credit scores for co-signers and financial numbers. At the last minute the underwriters discovered her parents were divorced and she did not have the same address as her co-signer. Who does? All other banks and credit unions actually laughed when I asked if the same address was required. Same addresses are rare, in fact. I’ve experienced a lot of bias being a divorced woman but when an institution discriminated against my child because of it, you have gone too far. I called them on it and it was not denied. Closing my accounts. I do not recommend TopLine Federal Credit Union.

      The worst of the worst. I don’t recommend this particular financial institution. I felt the discrimination whenever I visted the branch in person. I was denied an account and a credit card, even with a 704 credit score, no negative account history, and 6 years on my job. Like most financial institutions in the United States, Top Line Federal Credit Union caters solely to people who are at the top of the financial ladder and are of a particular socioeconomic status. Be aware this particular financial institution does not value customers. Don’t believe the hype.

      I've been banking with the Edina branch for 18 years and all of them great ones. The staff are welcoming and helpful, kind and considerate. They know my whole family by name and always greet us as such. It's a lovely feeling. In the past 18 years I have gone from full-employment to fully unemployed to part-time to intermittent. Throughout, the team at this branch has been supportive and instructive in managing my accounts. Most recently I almost emptied an account into another to pay a bill, little remembering that it was a MoneyMarket account and had a monthly fee; the amount I had left it was not enough to cover it so I went negative. Surprised, I brought the info to the bank and Danny very nicely explained what had happened, refunded me the charge for being overdrawn, properly closed the MM account and moved the remaining bit of cash into my chequing. All without a fuss, and to my delight. I would not bank anywhere else.

      As a credit union overall, Topline is good. But, yes, Topline's fines and fees are comparable (on the low end) to what you would be charged by the Big Banks. My disappointment is with the Edina Branch. Most everyone is pleasant enough, but there seems to be a bureaucratic mindset at the Edina Branch that makes doing any business there very frustrating. This was the case a few years ago and was still the case when I tried again recently to use this branch. At Topline Edina, the crew is slow, rigid in routine, easily thrown if there is a problem with your account or you are trying to make an infrequent type of procedure/transaction, and not very sympathetic. It's as if they look to the company's three-ring binder manual and, if the answer isn't there, they are stumped. Topline Edina is not a bastion of “Yankee Ingenuity” or a "Yes, We Can" mentality. Except for the ATM, it is simply easier to head up to Topline's Main Campus in Maple Grove.

      Everything is slow and inconvenient compared to bigger banks like Wells Fargo. But they provide basic bank services and are helpful.
