State Employees’ Credit Union Reviews

Desirae Silvers5I have nothing bad to say about this branch but I would like to add that I recently lost my husband and went in to close accounts that were in his name. I started crying and was very embarrassed. Leslie was so kind and compassionate to me during a difficult time and I hope she gets the recognition at her job that she deserves.

Steve J1Absolutely horrible customer service. It doesn’t matter if you don’t receive a letter they sent, they don’t care period. I went through a hard time and they didn’t even talk to me or my family they sent a letter we never received and closed our account with no notice even after we talked to them on the phone we were not notified of them closing our account. Found out today when we’ve called for the last two days looking for my direct deposits. Totally unsat.

linda schumacher Burleyson3Pretty bad. Bought two gift cards for 500 each as I was in hurry to pay a bill. They held my money but it never paid the bill for 5 days. The front desk staff guy was clueless and shrugged and said to register the card on website. Card barely worked anywhere but all staff said it should. Turned out I should've registered it online with an acct and gotten a pin and the employee told me I should've done that first. I called the 1-800 to activate it and no one on one phone call told me that. I made two visits in the bank and everyone told me it should work everywhere and no one told me anything about that. When I told him I needed a supervisor, the young teller told me that the supervisor would tell me the same thing which was very rude. I met with the supervisor who gave me a tracking number of a transaction ( which was denied on my end) had actually gone through so the money. Rob Beecham is extremely nice and tried to help as much as possible but this gift card program is for the birds. He could barely figure out how to help me retrieve my money that never went anywhere.

L M1We should have a zero star option, 1 star is way too much. Horrible bank, all of the SECUs. If you're rich enough to not need a loan, SECU will help you. If not, SECU denies EVERYTHING. Your credit score doesn't matter, only how much money you or your family already have.

Sam DeMary5What can I say, it's a bank. They are good to work with. Great hours and a very friendly staff. Low interest rates and all their ATMs are free to use, no service charge. I've banked here for more than 20 years, no problems, no issues. Great for a bank, more fair than most and no fees.

Dameron Johnston1I, called in to set a appointment for a new account. I was told until the pandemic was over. They will not be accepting any new accounts. I’m a state employee, who is going to have use another bank. I taught Finances was essential to survive.

Natalie Geralds1Avoid having Rob deal with any of your financials. He was unreliable; rushed us out of the office so he could finish on time; didn’t call back to let us know we were approved for an auto loan after running everything the next day; didn’t answer/return any of our calls; and didn’t document our info for another branch to verify so that we could smoothly proceed in the loan process.

Barnabas Gray2In my opinion this is the worst location of all the SECUs I have dealt with. The majority of the employees I have dealt with seem to be apathetic. It's like you are ruining their day to wait on you. It takes too long to complete any type transaction. It is a little dangerous getting in and out of the parking lots. They do not have enough handicapped parking, when you are pressed for time it always takes too long to complete your transaction. The drive through is the same. It seems that they never have enough tellers especially at lunchtime and close to closing. I drive to Mocksville to do my business with SECU. The distance is about the same, but I'd drive even further to avoid this location.

Drew Cress1While much of my interaction was online, there was a staggering amount of errors and miscommunication over the years I held accounts with them. I can't recommend the organization for that reason even though my interactions in person where always pleasant.

Kaelz1Horrible bank. Fees, fees, fees. Overdraft for anything. Terrible miscommunication. Instead of having a manager contact me they chose to suspend my account for a year without any warning what so ever. BANK SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!!!
