  I would like it to be noted that I received the worst customer service of my life from this title company. Per my contract, the seller chose the title company so I had no choice in the matter. I bought a house with my husband and never changed my name, but someone at the title company decided to change my name for me and put it all over my paperwork. From receiving the initial documents, I informed them that my last name was not the same as my husband and requested the documents to be corrected. Fast forward to closing week, I still had not received corrected documents and had to send another email about it. All of the closing documents emailed to me STILL showed my husbands last name and when I emailed about it, no one was apologetic and I actually received kick back about my name not being corrected. They even tried to tell me that they had received my last name like that and my lender had to get involved and we all had to prove that no document was ever turned into them with my last name the same as my husbands. I literally had to threaten to not close on my home until all paperwork was corrected with my actual last name. Also, early on in the contract period I received an email saying I would have to pay an HOA transfer fee no later than 10 days before closing, but it stated specifically that I would "receive a separate email with the link to pay HOA transfer/processing fees." When we got to closing week, I woke up to an email from the title company TO MY LENDER, telling him that I had not paid my HOA transfer/processing fee and my mortgage was in danger of not closing on time. The title company literally chose to go rat me out to the lender rather than speak to me at all. The title company's email to the lender said I had replied to their email in which I should have clicked the link to pay. Once again, I had to defend myself and also remind them that their email said I would receive a separate email with a link, which was never received. Luckily my lender was the best, and sent them a strongly worded reply about their negligence and unprofessionalism at not being on top of deadlines and never having corrected my name. Suddenly, the email with link to pay showed up in my inbox, which I paid immediately. StarTex never once took any responsibility for anything. Not once did someone apologize, even for changing my name. In fact, StarTex actually tried to say that the email to pay for my HOA was through a third party and therefore not their responsibility to make sure it was received by me. The closing went perfectly fine, however the damage of my name fiasco continues til this day. I never received an email from the HOA that my account had been processed and had to call to get a registration email sent to me -that's when I found out that they have my name incorrect (as my husbands last name). Now I have to go through hoops, yet again, to get my name corrected to my legal name on my account. I can't wait to find out what other stuff the title company messed up!
