  Going to close my account after banking here for almost 20 years. Just wanted to change my address while I was out of town and had the time. The lady said I needed an updated license with the address. No. It's a temporary move. Need a utility bill. I'm out of town. Why would I bring that with me? It's my account. I have my ID. Why can I not get my statements sent where I am staying for the next 6 to 8 months? The lady just stared at me in stone cold refusal. The security guard was friendlier than she was. I'll bet I can go to another branch and get this done with no problem. Not letting her ruin my vacation.

  Great Bank! We switched to South State just over a year ago. Best move we ever made. It’s nice to have a true banker again. If you are looking for a new banker or are not sure you are getting the service you need, give South State a call and find out what it is like to have a real banker.

  The best bank I've ever held accounts with. I've done BB&T, BofA, Wells Fargo. Nobody compares to South State Bank (formerly SCBT when our relationship started). I'm beyond satisfied and appeased with their policies, account requirements, lack of fees, online banking experience/security, and specific to this location: the most friendly and helpful staff of any bank I've ever walked into. I will never hold another account with a large national chain bank, and hope to never have to hold an account anywhere else but here. They've gotten a little larger, but so far have held onto putting the account holder first. I hope it continues.
