  Richard is nothing short of amazing! He is highly recommended for many reasons. His communication skills is unmatched, he’s very attentive to the buyers needs and concerns and is very thorough.   Richard is an excellent lender. There are many working parts to buying a home and it can be a bit confusing. He takes the time to explain all of it in simple terms that make it easy to understand. Unlike some other lenders, Richard makes himself available when I have questions, including evenings and weekends. I highly recommend him.

  I am a mortgage settlement officer. Since 1998 I have closed over 20,000 mortgage transactions. My job is to present all of the documents to the buyer/borrower and briefly describe each document's purpose and have the individuals sign. Whenever the loan officer has done a good job throughout the process it becomes evident to me at the settlement. Over the last 2 years I have performed dozens of settlements for clients of Richard Meckel. In every case, they have gone smoothly because he has taken the time to explain, educate and prepare his clients for settlement. "Rocky settlements" happen because the loan officer took short cuts. None of the settlements I have performed for Richard have been "rocky".

  I’ve financed my last several mortgages through SECU, and each time Mr Meckel has been my loan officer! This last time was most challenging since it was new construction and the builder was providing $7K to use their lender. Keeping this story short, not only did we get a better deal even with the $7K handicap, we had an additional 2.25 points advantage on the loan plus almost an entire percentage point lower loan rate!!!!! Additionally, and most importantly was when the mortgage rate was increased significantly by the builder’s lender with only 45 days left to settle, Me Meckel helped me move quickly in to get another lender,in order to qualify in time. Almost an impossible deadline to meet. That first weekend Mr Meckel emailed me several times regarding what documentation was needed. Without this extraordinary effort, I never would have been able to qualify in time. Despite some ridiculous underwriting demands due to the 2015 tax law, we qualified and closed in the nick of time! Could not have done it without his extraordinary effort.

  I am writing this review to let you all know how much I appreciated the exemplary service that Mr. Meckler provided to me during my first home buying process. Mr. Meckel took the time to educate me about the triumphs, trials, and tribulations of the home buying process the moment he shook my hand and before I sat down in his office. He went beyond his normally scheduled work hours to assist me with successfully buying my first house, and now all of my family and even my church friends are wanting to join SECU because of my great house buying experience! Even with a very demanding and tight schedule, he made time for all my questions and demands, even the silly ones, he went the extra mile to make sure that I got what I needed. Mr. Meckel always had a welcoming attitude over the phone, email, and especially in person. He has a very impressive toolbox of problem solving capabilities and will not take NO for answer when it comes to providing the best options for home rates and their complementary products (i.e. home insurance). Because of his efforts, I am now living the American dream. You can’t buy this experience anywhere - it was truly a gift to work with Mr. Meckel.
