REV Federal Credit Union Reviews

Paul Bailey1Worst bank in Charleston by far! Rude associates and rude on the phone. I’d encourage anyone considering this bank to reconsider. They placed a GPS tracker in my car for my car loan. Upon switching the loan to another bank REV tells me they can’t remove said GPS tracker that THEY HAD INSTALLED. A handful of their representatives are polite and mannerly however overall there are much better places to bank with in your area. I’d strongly recommend ANYONE except Rip Off REV.
Response from the ownerHey, Paul. Appreciate you taking the time to leave some feedback to highlight our teams professionalism. Allow us to help clear the air by providing some transparency to the rest of your post. In 2020, you signed an agreement permitting us to place that GPS tracker on the vehicle. Within the agreement, you also signed a section acknowledging that you would be responsible for removing the device from your vehicle. We're happy to send you a copy of this signed document to help refresh your memory. If you're interested, shoot us an e-mail at [email protected].

John Astles5What a fantastic and helpful staff at Colman Blvd location! As a local business owner for 30 years (now retired) I needed a bank to serve a multitude of needs and REV is that bank! My previous bank was large and unfriendly and the staff seem to change every 3 months. REV @ Coleman is friendly and familiar and they have offered excellent and efficient solutions to every one of my banking needs. Car and RV loans as well as credit cards and savings accounts...all at great rates! Chris B. is always available to answer my questions and provide the guidance that we need in a timely manner.
Response from the ownerLoving those 5-Stars, John! Chris is a great asset to our team.

Elli Mac1After banking with Heritage Trust for over 11 years I finally closed my account. It seems like the days of friendly customer service at your local credit union are over. This bank is not what it used to be. I got tired of having to constantly opt out of unwanted services. Every few months a new service fee. Today was the last straw after trying to recover stolen funds I was met with a rude employee named Lauren who essentially called me a liar. Its ridiculous that I got better service at large branch's like Wells Fargo then I did at HT. On top of all the fees the security is terrible. Three times in the past year HT has canceled my card with out notifying me because of stolen information. Do yourself a favor and bank somewhere else. It's just not worth the constant pain.

Kate1I've been a member for over a decade, but have been less than pleased for the past 3 years and am officially switching banks. Three big reasons why: 1) My credit card was stuck in a parking machine last weekend. I had to leave the card and naturally wanted to report my card lost. There was no way for me to do so online, and the call center was only open during business hours. Seriously? In 2019, there's no way for me to mark a card as lost and prevent it being used if it's not during business hours? EDIT TO THEIR RESPONSE: Wherever the link in the app is for locking a card, it is very well hidden. I spent a half hour looking both on the app and on my desktop, as did my two friends who were with me. 2) They recently decided to re-do the banking app, which was going to reset all of our passwords. To bad they didn't inform us about this until after they react the passwords. I was locked out of all of my accounts (on bill pay day) and waited on hold via phone and online chat. apparently this was a major issue for a lot of people, because I never was able to get a hold of a representative online or via phone. I did wait 50 minutes for the online chat, only to be signed out and moved to the back of the queue. Had to go in to get it all reset. Absolute nightmare! EDIT: They now claim that they sent multiple communications through multiple channels warning us about the switch. Somehow all of the communications where missed by myself and my sister and parents who all have banked with HTFCU. I can say for certain though that the email with the new temporary password arrived about 4 hours after I was locked out. 3) 3 years ago, when I went to purchase my home, I spoke with a woman named Amy at the Summerville Branch. When I explained my unique situation, and that I make commission plus tips, she openly laughed at me and asked if I actually wanted her to run the numbers because it wouldn't work. Unbelievable, and their loss, as I found a lender who actually took the time to try and help me. In short, whoever is making decisions at a corporate level is failing miserably. I would not reccomend HT to anyone.
Response from the ownerGood Morning Kate, we're sorry to hear about the situation regarding your card. Our mobile app provides members the ability to lock their cards to prevent them from being used. I also noticed you mentioned the mobile/online banking update. This was communicated to our membership through multiple channels over several months prior to being implemented to ensure our members had ample time to verify all their information was up-to-date prior to the upgrade. Once live, all members were provided a temporary authentication password to get back into the system and change the password to the one they preferred.

Stephanie DeQuimpaul1Having a car loan through this bank is a nightmare. I've been told I can't pay online because I "don't technically have an account" with them, only a car loan. Paying over the phone is a $15 "convenience" fee. So if I want to avoid that, I have to go in person, which is a pain since I'm out of town for work most of the month. But even then! They run your card as a cash advance and then take the advance to the back room to pay the car loan and that's a $3.50 fee! Having to pay money just to pay my freaking car loan is ridiculous!
