Trash management, rude, impolite, do not speak or talk to you. I do not recommend coming to this one go to another location. Both the manager and the employee were rude for no reason

The staff at this branch lack professionalism and customer service skills. I've witnessed staff member arguing with each other in front of customers and being rude to customers. This may be the reason why the current staff members work at the Stop & Shop branch and not an actual People's branch location where this type of behavior would not be tolerated. Avoid this branch at all costs.

The employees at this location do not have customer service skills. First of all, I have done many transactions here and have brought my partner along with me, who does not have an account. When I am trying to complete my transactions, the bank tellers harass him to open an account. Mind you, they have no need to interact with him in order to complete my transactions. Each time we have went, he has told them that he does not desire an account with them and they continue to try to convince him to open up an account and a on a few occasions, have mocked him, which I found highly inappropriate and unprofessional. They do not have to be so transparent at their attempts to get a little commission off of recruiting new customers. I had an experience today at this location which led me to the conclusion that I will never return to this branch and I am considering switching banks. Employees of People's United Bank have overall demonstrated sub-par customer service throughout my 10 plus years of membership, however, today, I was outright disrespected. When my partner and I first arrived, a man in a suit was standing by the line. He first awkwardly stared at us as if we were criminals about to do something. My partner felt uncomfortable and walked away and remained at a distance. After about 5 min of waiting (no one else was in front of me) and being stared at by this man, he acknowledged the long wait and let me know that someone would be right with me. After about another 3 min, a teller became available. The teller however, socialized with another teller next to her and with the awkward man in the suit laughing and chatting away. I slowly inched up to her because no one was communicating with me as to whether or not she was available. All of a sudden, the man in the suit stepped forward and tried to block me and put his hand in my face. He said "Stop! No! Wait". I was confused. No one communicated to me whether or not she was ready and I did not deserve to be yelled at with one word commands as if I was doing something wrong or even worse, as if I was a dog! I stood there frozen for a second, wondering who he thought he was talking to! The bank teller than said, "Oh, I can take him", so I began walking toward her again and he said "No!" but he did not provide any explanation or reassurance that she would take me perhaps in a moment when she was ready. I felt patronized so I began to walk away. Still, no one offered to help me or apologize. As I walked away, I let them know that I would be calling the main office to complain. At that point, he again shouted "No!" and beckoned me toward him. I refused and left. Does this man have any other vocabulary other than "Stop! No! Wait!". Has he been trained in customer service? I called the main office and told them the above story. A customer service supervisor, Latoya, stated that the branch would be contacted regarding the situation. I then contacted the branch itself in order to speak to a manager and let them know what I had just endured by one of their employees. A woman named Joyce picked up and after I told her my story she immediately became defensive, stating the the man had a "medical issue" and "was not feeling like himself". She did not apologize or acknowledge how this man made me feel uncomfortable and patronized. She then became frustrated with me and no longer wanted to speak with me so instead of helping to solve the problem, she transferred me to someone else, Yvonne, who was equally defensive (I actually had to coax her to apologize to me after what happened). I stressed to Joyce and Yvonne that regardless as to whether or not this man had a medical issue, there is no way that I could have known that and that is not an excuse for treating a customer in a hostile and unprofessional manner. If he was that ill, he should have called out of work, left early, or excused himself. This then makes me question People's United Bank and their policies for forcing someone who is ill to continue working instead of accommodating their needs.
