Andre Nieuwendam5I have been in the banking & financial services industry for 32 years and started to work at Obsidian in 2017, mostly doing some IT consulting work. I stayed on because as I learned more and more about the company and worked with the owner, and I found that most of the negative things I heard were not true, and that their main goal was to build a business that would allow their employees to make the best margins in the industry while taking care of their clients. I have loved my position with the company and only wish I had started sooner. I am not just saying this as a employee, I am saying it as a man whose own son and other family members have achieved their dreams of home ownership through Obsidian. Sure, there are other lenders out there, but when you get to know the people at Obsidian, you grow to understand they are not just building a company they really care deeply about their employees and customers. If you are a Loan Officer and looking for a career where you can be your own boss and make money, this is the last career stop you will need to make.

James Shadow1Worked with Marcus through this company. Lost over 15k from this company and 7 months in escrow to buy a home they couldn’t close. EDIT: in response to the company’s response below. No it didn’t close on your end because your company took 7 months in escrow. Deadlines not met, things not submitted. Terrible time response and communication from your company. Don’t try to put the blame on anyone else. It doesn’t take 7 months to determine if someone qualifies for a home. What does take 7 months with no results and money loss is this company
Response from the ownerIf we couldn't close, it means you didn't qualify. 98% of loan applications we UW, we close. That right is the highest in the industry.

DSean Ford5NOTICE TO ALL LICENSED ORIGINATORS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. IN MY 22YEARS OF BUSINESS AS A LOAN ORIGINATOR I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE PLEASED WITH THIS INDUSTRY UNTIL I THEN CAME ABOARD TO OBSIDIAN FINANCIAL MORTGAGE SERVICES INC. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS ASK YOURSELF WHY DID YOU BECOME LICENSED AND I ASSURE YOU IT WAS NOT TO MEET FOLKS BUT OBSIDIAN DOES THAT ALSO, BUILD GREAT RELATIONSHIPS. HOWEVER YOU BECAME LICENSED TO EARN A GREATER WAY TO FINANCIALLY LIVE. WELL HERE AT OBSIDIAN NOT ONLY DO YOU EARN MORE, MAKE MORE PROGRESS FURTHER OBSIDIAN PAYS OUT COMMISSION EVEN WHEN YOU FORGET YOU ARE DUE A COMMISSION. OBSIDIAN SEPERATES ITSELF FROM THE INDUSTRY. ASK ME I WILL SHOW YOU. AT OBSIDIAN WE ALL ARE BORN TO WIN AND EMPOWERED TO PROSPER. ASK ME I WILL SHOW YOU!

MEC5I learned about Obsidian Mortgage through a family friend, so glad that I did! I reached out, and initially spoke with Ray Moatz, he was very professional, helpful, and friendly—I was immediately put at ease taking the big step to purchase a residence. When communicating with the office, the responses were prompt, clear, and the other staff were equally great. I can’t say enough about Obsidian Mortgage, I give them five STARS all around!

Kelly Michel5Michael, provided us with a no money down program know as a DPA. Me and my husband found it very hard to come up with a down payment. Through a special program that very few lenders have, Obsidian Mortgage got us approved, with no money down, and we closed in 3 weeks. We love Obsidian and wish every company could be this efficient.

Doug Halloran1This company sent me a letter that is ABSOLUTELY DECEPTIVE!! The letter head says it's from the VA US Department of Veterans Affairs. Then in small fine print at the bottom it says Obsidian Financial is not affiliate of the VA. What kind of company does this, predatory lending. I called the number and the lady was so rude and when I asked she got very defensive and hung up on me. I will be contacting the BBB next to report this. Why would anyone do business with a company that is DECEPTIVE about WHO they are and what their intentions are. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!

Allysha Holmes1This company is very deceptive and displays horrible customer service. I have reached out to this company via phone to voice a concern and they did not return my call even after 7 days! When I called again, the voicemail was full. Then to add insult to injury, I reached out to them on Facebook just simply saying that I'd like to voice a concern regarding one of their employees, they then decided to block me! I have picture proof of them receiving my inquiry and blocking me. They sent me a preapproval without proper documentation. It looked like it was randomly typed up. It simply said I was pre approved for a certain amount and that was it. There was no percentage rate provided there was no LTV provided, there was no breakdown of costs provided. When I reached out to the agent who provided the pre approval, I asked them the revise the document which they never did. They pulled my credit after they issued the pre approval , I dint trust this company and they do not operate like a legit company. I will be taking my business to MLB financial lending. They are a legit and very reputable business and their pre approval letters provide a full spreadsheet of information for both the buyer and agent to make sure the deal is feasible for the consumer.

Maggie Layton1Extremely unprofessional branch manager, D'Sean Ford, works at this mortgage company. He has hostile communication skills. See actual comments sent from him after asking for a loan update: "I am glad to hear back from you girl you so lucky, you are so lucky, wealth has it privilidges and i was just about to share something with you. oh my my my i was just about to unload !!! you are so lucky. "You clearly dont listen! Does this come with age or refusal to read? Or perhaps you feel you better or superior. Oh wait perhaps your preferred lender is greater or better? $5k bonus from my personal account if you can prove any of this. You can actually donate to 1st responders "
