After the very first discussion we knew that Jeff would be one that we would like to continue with as he had greatly earned the trust. As promised in the beginning, Jeff took us through the process and closed the case in record time. He kept us informed almost every day until it closed. Darryl Anderson1This was me and my wife’s first home buying experience, which we were excited for after a very challenging year of losing our 3 year old son to a lifetime of medical challenges this past June. Julie was referred to us and we were told we would be in good hands. We expressed very early on that we were first time buyers and would like to have steady communication with the team throughout the process. This DID NOT happen. The Novus app served its purpose of convenience in uploading documents with ease, however, there were many miscommunications from Julie Zielinski and Jessica Nowak, who I assume works under Julie’s leadership. A HUGE shift in our loan process occurred one week prior to closing after we had provided all documentation, been pre-approved, and had received confirmation that the loan application had been sent to underwriters and all looked good (Note: this shift was not a result of any new changes my wife or I had made with purchases, credit, loan accounts, or in any regards). Jessica sent out an email on a Friday at 1pm regarding this major change and then set an out of office reply, whereas we weren’t able to contact anyone to know why this change had occurred. Finally, after messaging and calling Julie several times on Friday and Saturday, she decided to take our call. She admitted that she and her team dropped the ball and failed my wife and I in the process and their communications. Being optimistic, we thought the next days leading up to closing would result in better communication. Two days prior to closing, we were emailed for me to provide bank statement for the $4000 of earnest money that I had paid nearly a month prior to. Why was everything communicated to us last minute, but required our urgent response? The only part of this process that was smooth was submitting the original application. Everything fell apart after that. My wife and I didn’t feel like a priority at all when we were calling/texting/emailing to gain clarity on Julie and her team’s poor communications. Finally, we get to closing... Julie arrives late, is on her phone taking calls and texting the entire time we are signing paperwork; then finally gives us the driest congratulations after we had just crossed this milestone and even decided to give her and her team a chance, despite the unpleasant experience. It’s unfortunate to read other positive reviews and be forced to ask ourselves, why weren’t we treated the same in this process. In the end, we purchased our home today, but I would not use Novus ever in the future. Yes I’m sure others have had positive experiences, but that doesn’t negate my negative experience. We understand human error exists, but good customer service is about owning mistakes, making right of them and leaving customers/clients feeling satisfied in the end. Sometimes this means going above and beyond to make that happen. Equitable practices should also be in place, to ensure all parties have equal experiences.
