Navy Federal Credit Union Reviews

JaMac1I'm tired of being treated like an inconvenience when all I want to do is move or withdraw MY money. Forget it if you want cash! The teller doesn't even count out the mishmashed pile of small bills that the machine spits out. They just hand it you and sit there staring at you while you try to count the mess, and when you ask for larger bills they say they don't have any. Is this not a financial institution? My old small town credit union was more professional than nfcu.

Vele Madrid1Navy Federal is one of the most dinosaur ways of banking; kind of like the Flintstones, but worse. Who stands in line to do their banking anymore!?!? Navy Federal makes banking with them as INCONVENIENT as possible. I do as little banking with Baby Federal as I can possibly do. One year around Christmas I went $15 over the credit limit on the Navy Federal credit card and they reported it to the credit bureau (instead of increasing the credit limit) then the next month January they increased the credit limited 3x more than the limit (from $1000 to $4000)!!!??? I DON'T TRUST BABY FEDERAL!!! I prefer to bank with USAA. I've been with USAA 20 years and give them all my business and sometimes Fort Bragg!!!!

vern john2Navy Federal already gets a lot of traffic which makes waiting in line for long periods of time stressful. Why would you close your location to train new people during main business hours extraordinarily inconvenient for those who drive really far to Navy Federal to do their business

Misty Angel3Great service. Three stars because the greeter they have up front today always speak in a very loud voice. This she can control. She also has a high pitched voice. This i realize she has no control over. Put the loud and high pitch together everyone in the bank knows the reason for your visit. There are friends and neighbors in here and to say the least strangers. I'm pretty sure customers do not want to have their business announced publicly. I can't handle discussing anything with her.

Sara Carson-Mitchell1The reason for the one star is because of the extremely offensive and excessive policies this institution has in place .We opened 5 accounts with this branch back in November of 2017. Today we tried to cash our tax refund check from the state of Georgia. The amount of the check was not very much...less than $200. We were informed the Georgia state issued check could not be cashed & must be deposited with a 2 day hold placed on the availability of the funds. When asked why a tax refund check needed to be held for 2 days, we were informed it's because we haven't banked with them long enough and do not have enough of their products & services to be considered good customers. Our accounts have been open for almost 6 months. My credit is excellent and so is my spouse's. I have no outstanding debts with any other financial institution and neither does my husband. We have FIVE accounts with Navy Federal but are being forced to open up more accounts, credit cards, & loans if we ever wish to get our other accounts in good standing with this financial institution. We are being forced to sign up for more products than we actually want in exchange to be treated like the rest of their customers. I worked at a bank for 5 years and we never had this policy. As long as the customer has a positive balance in their account and had proper indentification, we never required them to sign up for additional products and services they didn't want or need in order for them to cash a tax refund check. When my husband called the customer service number on the back of his debit card, the representative who handled his call was unaware Navy Federal had such a policy. My husband was then connected with the branch manager of this location and was informed if any of us wished for any of our accounts to be taken out of their probationary period we must sign up for more products and services. When my husband asked how long our accounts would be on probation if we chose not to sign up for additional products and services, the branch manager informed him our period of probation would be indefinite and all checks presented would always be subject to a hold on availability of funds. Essentially we are being forced to take out loans and open up credit cards or else be treated as though we have repeatedly and knowingly written bad checks and have outstanding balances with other financial institutions across the country. This is an offensive policy because this bank makes you feel like a criminal because you don't have as many of their products and services as they would like you to have. It feels as though my family is being discriminated against because we only have 3 savings accounts and 2 checking accounts with Navy Federal. Weird because I thought your accounts were also considered to be products and services you offered. As the wife of a veteran, I am extremely disappointed and saddened by this financial institution's treatment of a former member of the military and his family. We will definitely be reevaluating who we have a banking relationship with in the future.

Cassandra “Cass” Smith4MOST--of the employees are friendly and attentive. Services are good. I just don't like the joint account issues. However, it's the same at almost all banks.
