  Just called to inquire about refinancing for a larger amount. The conversation started off very good and ended really bad. Edward was very professional and helpful initially until I asked about the refinancing process. He asked me questions to better understand what my needs were and then when I volunteered for him to pull up my account so he can see my info, he told me my balance and said seems like something went on with the October payment. I never missed a payment. So I asked what do you mean, something went on with the October payment? My account was literally opened near the end of September. My first payment was due in early November. He seemed like he was having a hard time helping me know what my options are. I told him, “you know what, never mind. Thank you for your time.” I guess he was mad and hung up the phone. I’m 2 star-ing because he was professional in the beginning but end the call rudely. Don’t hang up on me! I will take my business elsewhere.

  The initial process started off great until I realized they added protection that was OPTIONAL but explained it to me as if I had to have it to get the loan. Then I was told I was being laid off I called them prior to to find out what options I may have and I was advised by Edward I would be able to refinance my loan if need be. My account has been opened since August I never made a pmt late and they never had to call me once they also put a lien on my car as collateral which didn't bother me bc I had no intentions on paying late. When I called back to actually get the refinance I was told that's not an option because I'm unemployed which was understandable however not what I was advised as I told the manager if I would of knew that prior to I would of taken the steps needed before being laid off. The manager said the employee I spoke with was new and not aware. Which didn't help my situation at all. The office needs some training on policy and procedures and everyone needs to be on the same page!

  I wouldn't give even one star to this place. I paid off my loan after making my payments on time and they lost my car title. They were a lien holder on my car until my loan was paid off. I have called several times about the status of a lost title they filed for a month back. I get people from this office who are rude and non caring telling me it's not in their hands now. To wait for DMV. How about following up with DMV since YOUR office lost my car title. I wouldn't do business with this place. Regional Finance in Garner is a good place to do business with if you need a loan.

  When I called to make a payment, the woman I spoke with tried to entice me into taking out another loan. I declined, explaining that I did not want another hard credit inquiry on my credit report. Obviously, the employee thought that I was ignorant and dumb as she proceeded to feed me lies concerning inquiries. As I explained the difference between and hard credit inquiry (remained on your credit report for 2 years and drops your score 10-15 points) and a soft credit inquiry (makes no mark against your credit report and does not drop your score), the employee all but called me a liar and continued with her charade. This woman was very rude, unprofessional and began to argue the issue when I sharply cut her off and informed her of my husband who is a lawyer. This is when she backed off. Anyone can Google credit inquiries and learn the facts for themselves. Do not simply take someone's word for it, especially when this person is trying to sell you money. Here is a bit of advice when dealing with Mariner Finance in Garner- DO NOT deal with them at all. If someone has to resort to lying and making misleading statements of a material fact...run, do not walk away. This office is under the assumption that their customers are ignorant and misinformed, and this is how these people earn their pathetic little paychecks.

  DO NOT OPEN A LOAN WITH THIS COMPANY!!!! Theyre liars and employ the most incompetent people ever!!!!!! I got behind on 1 payment ($80) paid it along with a partial payment for the current month ($96 in total) and they put a freeze on my bank account because when I made the payment the "person"who took my payment over the phone never informed their legal dept I made the payment. So $96 has caused my account to be over drafted double what I owed them and they still got paid.
