      Although I've only tried Wells fargo and Chase Bank I truly feel I am at home with Hughes Federal Credit Union. I feel that my well-being and my future is a priority and well looked after. I am able to build my credit by paying on my loan that made it possible for me to have my vehicle, I'm able to keep saving money in my savings account and building up some spending money in my checking account. My next step to continue building my credit is getting a secured credit card. Not one of these services are even in any way at all difficult to do. At every location you will find a welcoming and beyond helpful group of tellers among they're staff. Bit spanking on personal bias/home branch preferences, The staff at Hughes on South Houghton especially is beyond helpful, caring, compassionate and understanding. They have a strong group of people with a great work ethic and a true sense of empathy for the common man coming through the door looking to open an account, open a loan, whatever you need.

      Hughes credit union wanted a car dealer to sign the car over to my name before releasing any sort of money towards the dealer. Never heard of that in all the years of purchasing vehicles! I will be closing my account with them due to there policy on that and not getting professional service. I once thought the bank was a very helpful professional business but not anymore. They will lose me as a customer.

      You should only bank with this Credit Union if you love being on hold each and every time you call, sometimes for long periods of time (50 mins). If you use the option for them to call you back, forget about a call back! For weeks now I've been trying to get a credit on my credit card refunded to me. Today no one can even tell me where my money is. Good bye Hughes!

      A great Hughes location. I'm not sure what the issue was before that many people rated this place so bad. But the last three visits have been seamless and quick. The personnel was very helpful and quick to either give me an answer or send me to someone within the bank with the answer. My last two visits were in regards to opening another account and which one to open. They were very helpful and when I made my choice it took no time to open the account. And I walked out confident in the bank choice I made. Side note: the cleanliness of the building and the professionalism (yet still very approachable) of the staff was definitely above standard.

      I am a tourist. Needed change for the laundry mat as it has no change machine. They wouldn’t sell me any change. I wouldn’t open and account at Hughes if they were the last bank on earth. Way to make friends and possible future customers.

Although breaking a bill doesn’t seem like a difficult request, it’s much more complicated for banks and credit unions.       UPDATE 6/7/19 Hughes FCU on Houghton is still terrible. I tried to deposit a check, no cash back or any other transaction. It took 20 minutes AT THE TELLER. She could not get the check scanner to work and had to call for help (equipment malfunction?). There were only 2 tellers and the other teller was busy the entire time with another customer, so a line formed. A customer tried to bypass the line by using the ATM, but the ATM malfunctioned and so she waited while another employee tried to fix that issue. Did they install equipment from an auction at this new location? Maybe a 20 minute wait is not a big deal, except nearly every time we use this branch, we encounter problems and low standards. MORE EXPERIENCES (by no means a complete list) ENCOUNTER 1 I needed a FCU signature guarantee stamp so a large sum of money could be sent to Hughes FCU from another financial institution. But sorry, they only had 1 person that could do the stamp and she was busy. I was told to come back later. Fancy looking branch office , terrible service. I came back later, only to find out Hughes FCU wanted a document that they stated the SENDING financial institution needed, not the RECEIVING (i.e. Hughes). Hughes insisted on the document, which would have taken a week to get. I immediately went to my other credit union nearby. They did NOT need the document and all was processed so that funds were transferred to this institution and NOT Hughes. ENCOUNTER 2 We opened two savings accounts for our son. One at Hughes FCU, the other at the nearby credit union. It took under 30 minutes to open the account at the other credit union. Hughes took 2 hours (NO EXAGGERATION). You'd think we were getting a home loan. The employee was SO SLOW that the software application she was using TIMED OUT out and she had to start the entire process over again. Hughes management responded to another reviewer by stating "We hold all our employees to high standards and we always aim to provide our members with outstanding service". PLEASE, LOOK UP THE DEFINITION FOR OUTSTANDING, WASH THE GREASE OFF YOUR HANDS WHEN HOLDING, AND TAKE OFF YOUR BLINDFOLDS WHEN AIMING.

      Made a loan payment on Wednesday the 19th. Member services said it went through on 6/21. Called member services 3 times to confirm it went through and they said yes. Now I get a call from collections saying it wasn't paid. How did it process on 6/21 but now a week later it never did and didn't come out of my bank account. I swear this bank is incompetent. Make people late to collect fees

      No customer service. Had a problem and went into branch. All management was in meeting and message was left to call. No call. I called 4 hours later and only got voice mail. No call back. I called 2 hours later and the operator had to talk to management about my problem. But never talked to a manager myself. They have no customer service and will only fee you to death.. Time to look for a new financial institution to take me my money

      Horrible location! I’ve had multiple things messed up at this location. Teller was oblivious and her solution was to send me to another location for Hughes. Thank goodness for the location on Pantano I live in Vail so the location on Houghton would be most convenient if they had competent staff
