  Overall, the experience with Hershey Exteriors was a positive one. My roof was damaged in a hurricane/tornado that hit the south coastal area of Delaware in August 2020. Hershey was the first and earliest contractor who could come out to inspect the damage to my roof, so they were very prompt and timely. Come to find out that my Certainteed shingles installed in May 2009 had been recalled for defects in the glue strips, and the Hershey inspector told me that they could get me a new roof for the cost of my H.O. insurance deductible. They handled all the details and contacts with my H.O. insurance carrier. . . . a daunting task these days with insurance carriers pinching pennies from sun up to sun down, but the Hershey office was in constant contact with the insurance carrier and moved things right along!! Shingles and color were ordered, and on day of scheduled installation there was a minor delay in getting started, because the delivery company was trying to deliver my shingles to an address with the same street name, but in a different State just across the State line in Maryland. Once the shingles arrived, prep work having been completed that morning, the six-man crew got to work and finished up the shingle installation in record time. If there is any criticism to be leveled, I would have to say that there was a language barrier in communicating with the installation crew. . . My Spanish is very rudimentary. Also, as the homeowner, I had to guide the crew, once they were finished, but prior to leaving, to clean and blow off asphalt crumb dust deposited from stripping off the old shingles from all my deck and walking surfaces around the house. I also had to instruct them on cleaning shingle debris and roofing nails out of my rain gutters and on running the magnetic rollers up and down my two driveways to pick up any stray roofing nails that had not made their way into the debris dumpster. These tasks I should not have had to supervise myself; moreover, the job could have benefitted from more frequent and closer supervision by someone from Hershey Exteriors, both during the course of the installation, but especially at the close of the job by way of final inspection. The installation crew knocked loose a rain downspout which I did not notice until a couple of days later, and it took 10 days to get someone out to my house from Hershey Exteriors to reattach that downspout. . . . no less than the boss, Tyler Hershey, and on a Saturday to boot. So while I can recommend Hershey Exteriors, I do so, albeit, with the above mentioned reservations. My advice: Bone up on your conversational Spanish !!

  They did a very good job of replacing shingles and some facia that was ripped off during a storm. They also fixed our siding thanks to a friend who used our grill a little too close to the siding and melted it. I felt their prices were fair too. I would recommend Hershey Exteriors

  My family has used Hershey Exteriors for several roof repairs and they have been responsive and quick solving our problem. I thought a roof leak meant a new roof and they helped me prevent that with their honesty about our issue.

  This was the easiest transaction I've experienced in a long time. They replaced my roof so fast I could hardly believe it. They quoted a price, set a day and time, arrived on time and completed the work in less than a half of day. I highly recommend them.

  We found Hershey Exteriors from the roofing yellow pages and checked out the customer reviews on the web site. We liked the reviews and gave Mr. Hershey a call. Two hours later, Frank Whitcomb, the company estimator, came and did the free roofing estimate. Mr. Whitcomb was friendly, courteous, professional and knowledgeable. After inspection of the roof, Mr. Whitcomb pointed out the areas that were defective, and said that the roof needed to be replaced (it was 22 years old). Mr. Whitcomb further explained about all the materials, the warranty, as well as helping pick out the new roof color to coordinate it with the house. Three hours later we got the new roof estimate via email. Mr. Whitcomb followed up with a phone call to make sure that we got the estimate. The next day we started to negotiate the price. Mr. Whitcomb worked with Mr. Hershey, and we got a great discount with one package deal, no surprise costs! We compared the package to other companies’ estimates and we were happy with Hershey’s package. It took the Hershey’s team one and a half days to strip the old roof, put up the new one and clean up all the debris (it’s a big roof!). Amazing! Our house really stands out with the new color. We’re very pleased with it. A couple of days later we discovered a minor issue (not directly related to the roofing job). Mr. Hershey came out for the final inspection and took care of it that day, no charge! We highly recommend Hershey Exteriors to any homeowner that needs a new roof. They’re now working with us on our windows and patio doors (yes, they do that too!). Living at the shore, you can’t ask for a more superior service than Hershey Exteriors.

  I contacted Hershey Exteriors for a roof repair. They scheduled someone to come out a week later and no one showed. I call a few days later and got a call back from the owner apologizing and scheduled another appointment. An estimator arrived and took some pictures of our roof and said he would have a proposal for us in a day or two. That was two weeks ago and we haven't heard a thing

With the high volume of calls from the storm we were unable to get back to you right away.
