I walked in this morning looking forward to opening a checking account before I head into work supporting a local credit union. I was really surprised to experience terrible customer service as the lady I spoke to was rude and had no sense of welcoming as she stared at me walk in the door. She also had zero sense of urgency. I specifically asked to open a free checking account, and she looked at me... Not sure what she was processing, because she didn't proceed with anything. Then she asked if I took a look at the checking accounts. Uh, yes that's why I asked to open the free checking account. Overall, not a great experience at a credit union when I've had better in other states.

      Response from the owner

Good afternoon Melissa, I am very sorry you did not receive the customer service you deserved. If you would like I can have the branch manager reach out to discuss this further with you to see how we can better assist you. Please email the best number and time to reach out to you to [email protected]. Thank you.

I’ve banked with Harbor One for some time now, but went to the downtown branch to open an additional savings account. When I asked to use a restroom before sitting down, I was sent out in the rain to the public library two blocks away (which was closed for renovation). Came back and asked again and was sent to a Dunkin Donuts on the other side of the block (which didn’t have a public restroom). At this point my pants, shoes and jacket are soaked from walking almost a mile in the 45° rain. I still need to use the bathroom, but I took the morning off to open the account so I went back anyway. It seemed like after seeing the amount I was depositing, a bathroom magically appeared and I was shown right to it. I’ve had more pleasant encounters with state troopers at Logan. I had to drive home before work to change and warm up. Still not sure what the threshold is for being able to use the bathroom.

      Response from the owner

Paul, for security reasons our bathrooms are not normally for public use. We will use our judgement in emergency situations which they must have felt this was. I apologize for the frustration this has caused you. If you would like to discuss this further please email [email protected] with the best phone number to reach you at. I will have someone in retail management reach out to you as soon as possible.

I was in a rush and walked away from the ATM leaving my card there. When I called the bank the next day to ask if they had it they confirmed they did. They informed me they would have to destroy it since it was not one of their cards. I asked if I could just pick it up they said no they did not know why my bank pulled it. I asked if they could call my bank they said "No we don't do that". I am now without a card for 7 to 10 days despite the fact that they had my card in their hands. Very poor customer service, I would not bank with people that care that little about the community they serve.

I give them 5 stars because they were my Coastway Bank associates...that thankfully remained when Harbour One took over. They know me as soon as I call or walk in and smile...that is huge for me since working with monies gives me extreme anxiety...but I feel like they have my back.

      Response from the owner

Thank you Dawn for taking the time to leave us a review of our amazing staff at our Providence RI branch. We are always here to help in anyway we can.

Went the the atm for cash and their machine was suddenly "out of order", eating my card in the meanwhile. When I called the bank the next day to figure out how to retrieve my card they informed me that they could not return my card without a letter from my bank stating that I was able to receive my card back. Horrible customer service, there was no reason for my card to be flagged.

Ok, fixing my Rating today. Huge Thank you to Simone A. Super Helpful despite me coming in with an attitude, expecting the worst! Fixed my issue and even tested before I left to confirm I was good for the Holiday weekend!

      Response from the owner

Tariq, thank you for taking the time to leave this review. I will be sure to share with Simone and our Providence team. Have a great day!
