  If you are looking to use downpayment assistance/grants this is not the place for you. I was recommended by my realtor to use this lender and the lender seemed to be very knowledgeable and timely. Everything was going smooth until I asked about downpayment assistance that is being offered by the county. When I originally spoke to my realtor I told her I wanted to use dpa and she sent me a list of the current cities who had money available. I assumed this message was passed along to the lender but I guess it never did. When I asked about the dpa he stated it was not his “forte” yet I was told by the realtor he knew all about it. I felt like he just couldn’t be bother to do the extra paperwork and it’s a shame because I truly didn’t have an issue with Hamilton and the interest rate was great. My advice if you are looking to use dpa/grants ask the lender up front if they can do it before they pull your credit. I really don’t understand why I couldn’t use a dpa because I found a new lender who approved me within 2 hours and has no issues using the dpa because he truly wants to help.
