Greater Texas Credit Union Reviews

Carmen Chamness1Online banking never works and it's very hard to get a hold of someone when a problem inevitably comes up. It seems like there is always something wrong with this place's system and services. They flagged my address as invalid, so I couldn't use my debit card. When I called, they told me that my address was invalid because it couldn't receive mail. Tell me then... How did I receive my debit card? Oh, wait. I received it in the mail. Hmm.
Response from the ownerThank you again for leaving us a review. As we stated in our response to the review you left on our Bastrop location, the flags on your account were removed and you should have full access to online banking. Please reach out to us at [email protected] if you encounter any other issues or if we can help in any other way.

Brian Lynch1Service is deteriorating. New online banking software doesn't work. Confirmation messages are not being sent, so access to accounts is effectively denied. Software doesn't appear to have been tested in 'the real world' before rollout. Call for assistance do no good. The response is "Too bad/so sorry" "No one here can do anything to help you" "We really don't care -- it's not our problem." " good bye"
Response from the ownerHi Brian, you should be receiving validation messages through your selected method when attempting to log in. Please call our technical support team at 737-444-8273 if you are still experiencing this issue, or reach out to us at [email protected] if you are still experiencing issues with the team.

Brenda Woods5I have been a member of this credit union for so long, I can't even remember how long! :-) Started sometime back in the early 90's. The people that wok here now - and in the past - have never been anything but professional and courteous. When my hubby asks me why I don't bank a little closer to home, I always tell him why mess with perfection? :-) Even when I lived 9 hours away, I still had my account with GTFCU. And I never keep a lot of money in there. But they always treat me like I do! Thanks to everyone there for always being the best!
Response from the ownerBrenda, thank you for taking the time to review us and share those kind words! We appreciate your membership over al these years. <3

Thomas Whited5Greater Texas Credit Union is the very best place to bank. The truly care about there customers . They are not consumed with what is best for them like big banks are. They care more about what is best for their customers. And in my book that says a lot. They always go the extra mile teaching their customers how to save and invest and always being there for them when they make mistakes. They treat you like one of the family. THANKS GREATER TEXAS CREDIT UNION
Response from the ownerThank you for the review, Thomas! We love having you as a member of the Greater Texas family.

Dora Balladares5Had document notarized and liked the appointment meeting and the time it took to get documents reviewed and signed. I was even offered to get the whole document printed. Been a member for about 44 years and will never leave my GTCU!!
Response from the ownerWe are so glad to hear our team was able to assist you, Dora! Thank you for your membership!

Stephen Harland2As a bank they are very friendly in person. I use the account in Callaghan, Rd, SA, so thumbs up for them. Recently enquire about a mortgage and was left puzzled as to the quality of customer service. I have a feeling it was because I'm an international client and they couldn't be bothered dealing with me. Some of their methods of looking into your employment history are antiquated to say the least. The figures (length of mortgage) they came back with were not the ones I asked for. Not going to waste my time anymore.

Gidslink1What an awesome place! I had to open an account with a $5 deposit years ago to find out if I wanted to get a loan from these people. That $5 deposit grew to $11.27 over the years till I finally decided to close the account by their request. Then I find out they charged me a $5 inactive account fee from the proceeds. How generous! I hope I get a chance to use them again....never!
Response from the ownerThank you for providing us with some feedback on your experience. We do require that you become a member with the credit union ($5 deposit) in order to get a loan from us. When you pay off the loan, if you wish to close the account, we do give back the original $5 deposit. However, when the account is inactive for a certain amount of time, there is a fee which is disclosed in our fee schedule that is available to you.

Jack Nowicki1Well, so far this new Bill Pay is not been useful. I waited until the 6th to pay my bills due the 1st as you all requested, and tonight I cannot even sign in to the website anymore. The sign in is asking me for passwords and such that I haven't used in years: I just signed in. Now I am going to be later on paying my bills and cannot get through to anyone for assistance.
Response from the ownerHey Jack, we are sorry you’re having issues. Give us a call at 800-749-9732 and press the star * key and it’ll put you through to our team immediately.

Wendilyn Ilund1While the service I receive when I go in person is stellar - the staff is very courteous and efficient, this review deals more so with the customer service over the phone. They close to early at 4 o'clock except for Fridays when they close at 6 o'clock so most of the time, I have to call them for questions and concerns. However, their service over the phone now is lacking. I have held an account here for over ten years and this past year, I have noticed a sharp deterioration in the quality of their service when trying to call them over the phone. This holds true across many departments. Anytime I call, I can expect upwards of a 10 minute wait and many times it is without an answer. Most of the time it gets rerouted back to the receptionist until I reach his or her voicemail. Its very frustrating as a customer to feel so helpless when I need some sort of assistance. I can only speculate as to why this decline has happened, perhaps they are short staffed, but I hope it gets alleviated soon because I am ready to go elsewhere.
Response from the ownerHello Wendilyn, I would like to first thank you for your review. We appreciate you taking the time to communicate to us your likes and dislikes about the services you have received at Greater Texas. I understand your feelings of distress when trying to call in about a problem and can't get into contact with anyone. We are currently in the process of updating our phone system which we hope will allow us to better fulfill our members' wants and needs. I hope this can alleviate your frustrations in the future. If you have anymore questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us via our website (https://www.gtfcu.org/resources/contact-us) or even by our Facebook and Twitter pages (@gtfcu) if you aren't able to get through via phone (800-749-9732). Thank you so much for your patience. Again, we appreciate your review! Have a great day!
