Granite Credit Union Reviews

Ethan Meier1Few online experiences have been worse than with Granite. I use multiple credit unions, yet granite is the only one I am constantly frustrated with. They make you reset your password quite frequently, and misspelling a password 3 times will require you to call in person to the branch. I'm not sure if it's predatory so I can't pay off my bills or if they are just that incompetent, but at this point I keep the account open only so I can have a big unused line of credit. Do yourself a favor and never touch these people.
Response from the ownerSorry we’ve frustrated you so badly Ethan. Passwords being compromised can be a devastating experience to be a victim of, so we take making sure only authorized individuals are accessing accounts very seriously. Thanks for sharing your feedback.

Anna Ryser1I was there to open up a checking account and found out It's a terrible place. They were completely dead .No one in the parking lot. No one inside and yet I had to wait for 10 minutes. Then I got questioned if I had a proof of address right after I got checked in. I was told by the teller he say my helmet .He said because you ride a motorcycle .He said most motorcycle riders don't have permanent addresses. Im Ike that's so ridiculously not true . So then blah blah I was turned down for my bankruptcy. Said he would ask his manager if I could show proof I don't owe my bankruptcy still then while I'm waiting endlessly he says the only thing we can do is open you up a fresh start very basic account. Im like no I don't want that kind. As I was walking away he said you would have to show proof your bankruptcy was closed and I'm Ike why didn't you just say that in the beginning rather than offer me the basic checking. I have proof. And I walked away.discrimatory against bikers
Response from the ownerAnna, I'm very sorry to read about this unfortunate experience you had visiting the credit union. We'll work to get to the bottom of this and make sure we work to get better. I assure you we are not discriminatory to bikers, several of our employees ride. Thank you for taking the time to share! We'll take your feedback as an opportunity to improve. Be safe!

Camri Kohler5We've banked with Granite for years, and after a bad experience with our former mortgage holder, we refinanced with GCU. Todd H. and Katya T. were so incredibly kind and patient with us throughout the whole process and we are so much happier now!

Kevin Anderson5We have been with Granite for almost as long as they have been in business, they are an EXCELLENT credit union, there have been times we have not been able to make a payment on a loan on time, they are very understanding and flexible to help us. They are the best around. We are very grateful for Granite Credit union, they have been wonderful to us. We feel more of a loyalty to them over other financial institutions. Thank you Granite.
Response from the ownerThanks for the kind words Kevin! Glad to have you as members and look forward to continuing to serve you in the future.

Anna Williams1What a joke trying to reach someone on the phone for the Millcreek (main) branch just got the run around!! no listing anywhere for just that number!!! have been a member for over 40 years!!!
Response from the ownerAnna, so sorry you got the runaround when trying to call us today. All of our calls go through our call center so our branch staff can help members who come in. Usually getting transferred to someone at a specific office is not a big deal, but occasionally when they are all with other members they may not be available to answer the phone. Our call center staff is trained to handle the majority of transactions and questions over the phone. We appreciate your years of membership and will use your feedback to keep working to get better. Thanks!

Karen Christopherson5I had an amazing experience recently at this location. I've had an account with GCU for a very long time and have always been happy, but my experience with Tammy this week was by far the best care I've ever received at this location. She went out of her way to explain all available options on my account which really impacted my week in a very positive way. She was extremely friendly, genuine, and really went the extra mile to help me. Thank you so much Tammy!!!
Response from the ownerThanks for sharing your experience Karen! We think Tammy is great as well!

KB1Granite is the worst banking experience. I’ve ever had. The customer service on the phones is horrible. I’ve been treated so poorly at Granite. All the customer services on the phone at Granite are beyond rude. I’m currently still dealing with a issue from Granite. That was completely their fault. It’s been a total nightmare. I’ll never bank at Granite again. I’m not posting this to be mean or rude. I’m posting this. Because it’s the truth! And others deserve to know the Truth about Granite and how horrible the whole entire business is. No one should ever go through a horrible banking experience.
Response from the ownerReally sorry we've let you down so badly KB. We'd really like to make sure we get this nightmare ended for you. Please email [email protected] with the details of the issue and your contact info and we'll do our best get things fixed for you. Thanks!

whil mccutchan1Finally closed my Granite account. The last straw was fraud being committed on my account and the turn around time for a refund or anything being done by Granite is two weeks. The same fraud was committed on an account I have with another bank and they resolved it within 2 days including putting a new card in my hand through express shipping. Get your money out of Granite ASAP and reconsider starting an account with them.

Blake Adams1Granite credit union advertises slightly lower rates compared to other local credit unions so I thought I would venture out and give them a try. ABSOLUTE worst idea ever!!!for starters, try giving them a call...you’ll have to wait 30 minutes just for someone to answer....and then have no answer for you. And if your trying to do a simple loan, look elsewhere. You’d be lucky to get a response every few hundred days. Worst financial branch I have ever dealt with. Read the reviews they are all the same!!!
Response from the ownerBlake, very sorry we didn't take better care of you. We're aware of the issues with our phone system and working hard to get them resolved. We appreciate your feedback and will work to get better. Thanks!
