First Tech Federal Credit Union Reviews

ALEX PELLOT1I tried to set up a new credit card with them and was denied because i was I over qualified. Credit is too good so they didn't want to take the risk of me defaulting on them even though I only have 2% usualization on my total of all my credit cards
Response from the ownerAlex we responded to your concerns via the Better Business Bureau. See response below: Hi Alexander, Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention and allowing us the opportunity to address them. As a financial institution we are required to be careful with the personal information entrusted to us and therefore cannot share it in a public forum, which includes the Better Business Bureau. As such, for specific information on your application and subsequent decline, we advise you to reach out to our contact center at 1-855-855-8805. However, based on your own statement the reason for decline may very well be because of the large amount of outstanding credit that you currently have. Please note that a credit score by itself is not necessarily an indicator for approval, as other factors are considered. Also, each lending institution has its own guidelines and policies for granting credit, and because First Tech is lending our members deposits when granting loan decisions, our thresholds around credit criteria can vary greatly compared to a large publically traded bank. Regarding the credit pull, if after review of this response you decide that you would like to formally dispute the credit pull we would need you to contact us via phone or in writing of such request. If you do so, we will follow the Federal Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) guidelines in performing our research and responding within the allotted timeframe. Any additional questions about credit reporting and/or credit disputes should be directed to our contact center at the number previously provided. Thank you.

L4STC4ST1Absolutely horrid experience, purchasing a house and we need to get statements. First you have to go through the horrid automated system to get a hold of someone. You can normally obtain bank statements online but for some reason their website is always broken and never shows checking and savings statements. So you call in asking them to send it and they say they can only mail them to you at a charge. You have to hang up and keep calling back until someone can finally send them to you via email or through the message center. When purchasing a home they will ask you for a running bank statement which I have been told by numerous employees “it’s not available and we don’t have that”. Not just the statements is an issue, they will run your credit at random and drop your credit card limit which in turn dings your credit score if you are now over a certain percentage of your credit limit. After I close on this house we’re switching all accounts and loans to another bank.
Response from the ownerHi L4STC4ST, Thank you for sharing your concerns with us. We are sorry to hear about your experience with us. We would like to address your concerns regarding online banking and accessing statements, but would need your account details first. Please email that information to us at [email protected]. We appreciate your membership!

Esteban Bonilla1I financed a new car from Honda a couple months and First Tech was the credit union I was approved for. So far it’s the worst, the app is terrible and you don’t really get helped by the associates. I’ve gotten charged late fees after I would pay my payment. If you have a choice to pick another credit union and pay $5 more I would suggest you do it.
Response from the ownerHi Esteban, We appreciate you providing us the opportunity to hear and respond to your concerns regarding your experience. Please know that we take your complaint very seriously. It has been reviewed by the appropriate leadership teams and the error has been corrected. A member of our team left you a message and would like to provide a detailed explanation and ensure all of your concerns and questions are taken care of. Please contact her at your earliest convenience. Thank you.

Mrs. M.1I had this credit union for two years. They would make mistakes and then charge me for them or request I get the money from the other company. For example, PayPal charged me for an item that was cancelled. It made me go into overdraft, PayPal refunded the amount and when I called first tech they told me to call PayPal to get the 33 dollars back. I said but you charged me, not PayPal. They said but it was PayPal’s mistake. And they would not reverse their charge even though I’m their customer. First tech says they are for the people but they are not telling the truth. Why would I spend more wasted time getting something reversed when I expect my credit union to work for me. Not the other way around. They can keep the 33 dollars and I will use my other bank account from now on.
Response from the ownerWe're sorry to hear about your experience. All of our members are valued. If you would like to have somebody review your accounts and l follow up, please send us an email at [email protected] with your contact info. Thank you!

jess etchemendy1The slowest company to reissue lost or stolen debit/credit times. Within 2 hours of losing my card, I called into first tech to have a new card reissued. It has been 2 full weeks and still no card has shown up. I called into the official First Tech Phone number to learn my card was not reordered for 4 days after I called in. I reordered on March 5, 2020 and I come to learn the order to replace the card was not made until March 9, 2020. There were obviously no holidays during this period, so it makes no sense why it took this long. I have no other choice but to go into the branch to get a replacement, which I don't want to do considering the virus going around. The worst part is this has happened twice to me. Needless to say, I am moving to another credit union.

Charles Sonitz1The worst credit card experience of my life. The credit card division of this credit union has no idea what is going on with the banking division. If you call the credit card division they say that they have to transfer your call to someone else and then the phone goes dead. I have an excellent FICO score and I have never had so much trouble with their web site or in trying to make a credit card payment. I put their rating as low as it would go. They just don't care.

Abby Rieskamp1Worst experience ever. Have had not one, not two, not three not four, BUT FIVE incidences where my card has been messed up. Online banking is constantly not working. Would call to resolve situation but would be on hold for 40+ minutes. My card recently got hacked and they told me by new card would take 7-10 business day , we are going on day 14 with no card. I have never been more unhappy with a business in my entire life.
Response from the ownerAbby, thank you for your feedback and I’m very sorry to hear about the constant issues you’ve been having. I’d like to learn more about the Online Banking issues you mentioned and look into your card situation. Would you mind sending an email to [email protected] so we can look up your account?

Sportsand MartialArts dot Com1If you ever call hoping to talk to someone and then they put you on the phone with someone who does not know anything about it, then this is that bank. I called several times to set up an automatic payment, I sent several forms and I could not have them set up the automatic payment with them. Their "Contact Center Operations" is a joke, even if you are calling to pay they give you hassle, you can't pay with debit....I have never heard of a bank that makes so many ridiculous regulations to pay a bill. Their customer service is bad, non professional. I'm tired of calling and emailing them, no solutions just excuses and problems. I do not recommend this bank at all.

Mr Nvr1When I closed my account I asked them to wire the money to another account I had. I was informed they had only one option - to send a cashiers check to my home. It took over 3 weeks for the check to arrive at which point it was filed in a stack of other items while I was on vacation. When I found it, a couple months had passed. Unfortunately, the check has "VOID AFTER 90 DAYS" stamped on it and it was past that date. So, I called to find out what my options where. I was told I needed to complete a form, get it notarized and send it along with the now-void check back to them. Does this seem reasonable? Finding a notary isn’t that easy. It costs $. Never-mind the hour or so it’ll take me to run around and get it notarized. We deal with a fair number of checks and whenever we run into a situation where a check is lost or stolen, we simply void the prior check and issue a new one. But rather than simply re-issuing the check, as any other normal business would, FIRST-TECH is wasting my time, making me to jump through a bunch of hoops and costing me money - just to get my own money. While hiding behind their “processes”. Well, their processes suck… These guys suck…

China Roots1If I could give it zero stars I would. I went today to deposit a check into my car loan payment and it was closed. During operating hours. I went at 150pm and they were closed due to network shut downs. What type of bank has network shut downs?? I drove 30 minutes to get here because it was the closest location to me. Also they don’t have a branch number?!? If I was able to call in advance I wouldn’t have had this problem.
