The app never works, don't open on Saturdays, and cheap website. The app has been down for 3 weeks. I would give them zero star but it doesn't let me. The only reason i have an account in this bank is because my mortgage is through them. Thank God for JP Morgan Chase ...

This is a reply to Ms.Karen Up there , you decided to write a negative comment on this wonderful bank. All experience I have had have been no less than exceptional, all the employees are very professional and attentive they never make me feel just like a number. Most people complain when they don't get their way. You implied it was urgent to get him on your account. Why wait until the last minute? A lack of planning on your part, does not constitute an emergency on their part. In regard to bank blocking debit card, you should be happy they are taking precautions to protect your money.

Really unhappy with my about a year with this bank. Left Bank of America after having an account with them for over 10 years. Wanted to put my money in a Keys local bank and had a First State account for about a year in 2008 until I moved back to Illinois. Had nothing but good experiences with them then. I was happy and satisfied with this bank, at first, then little things started adding up. First, I had to ask permission ALWAYS to use my card for any international purchases, including purchases from Canada. I would only get 24 hours to purchase and had to tell a representative what company and how much each transaction would be. I don’t shop internationally often but this made things difficult when trying to purchase something outside of the banks business hours because the only people you can talk to is fraud prevention and they can’t open your account to make an international purchase, only a bank representative can do it. I have had my debit card locked twice for filling up gas (at a local gas station I always use) and at the Key Largo Starbucks for no reason. These both happened on a Saturday and fraud prevention did not call or was able to see that my account was locked so I had to wait until Monday to resolve it, in person at the bank. Not being able to fill up gas and not having any cash on me made me not have access to gas or money for two days. For the last three months, I have not been able to pay my monthly utilities without having the bank unlock my account after spending over 4 hours on the phone with them and having to have my utility companies take another payment method so I could pay my bills on time. Supposedly, they say it is because AT&T has a lot of fraud but I use AT&T for internet which I pay almost the same exact day ever month and the bill is ALWAYS $50. Paying AT&T with my debit card freezes and locks me out of my account for hours since fraud prevention doesn’t text, call or recognize that my account has been locked for hours and then I am forced to speak to a bank teller to get “permission” to pay my AT&T Bill. Currently, I have a checking and opened two savings accounts with them. Yesterday, I came to the bank to add my fiancé onto one of the accounts and to cash a check. I was in the bank at 3pm and ask if I can make an appointment to add him to the account. They said I didn’t need to make an appointment, I could just come back before they close at 5pm. At 4:10PM I called and said we would be there at 4:40PM to fill out the paperwork. They said they can no longer add him because it takes a half hour and we would have to make an appointment for the next day. I then started the process at the other location in Key Largo, was told they would get it all situated and have the paperwork sent to the Big Pine Key Branch for my fiancé to sign (while on a break from work) so it would be ready by Friday. I just went to sign my portion and was told they can’t get it to Big Pine until at least Friday. I’m sick of the customer service, misinformation and the constant locking out and having to ask permission to use my own money. I will be looking for a new bank immediately.

I went to this location a few weeks ago - or at least tried to. I made it barely a foot inside the door when multiple employees shouted that I needed a mask. Enough is enough.

As a local small business owner I prefer to do business with local companies when possible. The staff is very pleasant and knowledgeable, they have realistic hours, open till 6pm and I can get someone on the phone quickly, not like the national banks. We did our due diligence before working with First State Bank and we are extremely happy we are one of their clients!

It's a very good bank, they have a new checking account option with no monthly charges. I had left this bank but I returned with them for good experience, good treatment and how safe I feel here.

Each and every one of the workers at this bank are super professionals who speak Spanish and English and make you feel like a family, that's why even my mother opened an account here, they help you in everything and explain in detail every doubt you may have.
