First Interstate Bank Reviews

Shelby Harris1I have never felt more used or taken advantage of in my life. I had just around $100 in my account when they started charging me monthly "service fees". I had had my account for a good 6 months or so when they randomly started charging me this $5.00 fee ever single month. I received no email, bill or any notification of any kind regarding these sudden fees and thus was unaware they were occurring. I didn't use the account that often after I got married but assumed since I had a bit of money in there that it wouldn't matter. Next time I logged in my account balance went from $100 to $0.00! Through their "service fees" they had completely drained my account effectively stealing $100 from me!! The last month they charged me twice, again for no reason other than literally just to make sure they got every cent. This is hands down the worst bank and I cannot believe they take advantage of our community this way. They charge fees whenever they want and where ever they think they can get away with it just to line their own pockets. It's disgusting. I cannot believe they can just steal peoples money for no apparent reason and without informing their customers of any charges or fees. In the last year I have gotten 1 letter from them and it was literally threatening me with MORE FEES if I didn't use my debit card more!! When I requested to close my account earlier today they couldn't even give me any kind of confirmation of my request or my account being closed!! They just said I would receive a final statement in the mail. No given time frame, nothing. As I have only received 2 mail correspondences since I opened the account over a year ago I have my doubts I'll ever get any such statement. BEWARE! They are heartless thieves who will take every cent from you without a second thought! **UPDATE 11/17/21** I received a letter from first interstate yesterday. Was it my final statement for the account I closed over a week ago that I was told would be closed within 3 days. Nope! It was a letter informing me I had changed my address. They felt informing me they had changed my address was more important than sending me verification of my account closure as I requested.

Siavash Sarrafan1Every couple years, they start charging me service charges and when I call them, they tell me "from now on we started to charge these particular accounts fees unless they do blah blah and you can switch to these account that doesn't have this charge on it" " oops! you did not get our notice?" And after I change my account, again in a couple years this is what happens. I have changed my account 3 times now and I just got another statement with a service fee again last month!! I'm not sure who's at fault here and I don't want to judge. Whether it is the one who is in charge of sending documents or whether this is a plan to charge everyone a little and hope they don't notice/care, this is not ethical. I used to be happy customer when I opened my account here a long time ago, but, with what is going on over and over again and their bad customer service, I'm closing my account. UPDATE: changed it to a one star. This is a new low in customer service in banking. Steal money with different names and do not respond to the customers at all. Wow!

Forrest Christensen1A trusted friend recommended this bank to me. When I opened an account and ordered my debit card I was told it would take 10-14 days. At the end of the 14 days I called to track my card and they had no clue where it was or if it was even sent. So they ordered a new one and expedited it, supposedly getting to me in about three business days. After another two weeks I called again and they ordered a third card. I finally got my card two MONTHS after I ordered it. I only stayed with them because I didn't want to wait another unknown amount of time to get a debit card. Fast forward another month and I add my wife to my account, order her a debit card and a credit card for myself. It's been 16 days and guess what, no sign of either card and their solution is to "expedite" me another card. Needless to say, I am less than pleased with the service I have been given. The people at the branch are very kind and helpful but the company itself can't get a debit card from Billings to Laramie within any reasonable time frame.

D S1I have banked here for 17 years and have never been more disappointed than I am now. My wife and I put in an application for a personal loan 3ish weeks ago and I asked if they would update me on it ASAP as the seller would like an update. That was on Tuesday a while back Brett said we would have an update around Friday well Friday came and went. So I called on Monday to find out Brett is off for training no biggie so I spoke with Tanner who said he’d get me an update soon. A week went by so I called Tanner again to which he said he’d get me an update that night. That was 2 days ago. I called back to tell them to cancel the loan application to which I was told I’d have to speak with Tanner who was busy and would return my call within 30. That phone call happened around 1400 it is now 1726 which is past the time they are there. I’m going through the process of switching banks because obviously First Interstate Bank in Laramie doesn’t value their members.

Dorothy Orenda2I have banked at this bank for twenty years and liked it but now in 2020 they are adding fees for nearly everything. Since I am on a fixed income I can't have added fees taking money from my account because I don't have internet so I will be moving both my accounts as soon as possible.

Bonnie Perry2Though this bank may seem like it is local and community -oriented, that is not the case. I am in the process of transferring my two accounts out of here. They are not as committed to helping their customers out as they may seem. In the end, it all comes down to a commitment to their own benefits. Think twice before opening an account here.

Nicolas Long5Great bank! The employees are always very helpful and respectful. I don't get the typical run around like I'd get from a national chain bank. *cough Wells Fargo *cough
Response from the ownerThanks, Nicolas! We appreciate your feedback. We've passed your comments on to the Branch President. Thank you for your business!

Courtney Westbrook1Worst service ever, would not cash my check even when I told them I was willing to pay a fee or whatever. Rude bank teller. When I asked them who do I talk to about opening up an account and transferring money from my old bank account to the new one I would have she basically told me she didn't know and acted like I was holding up the line.
Response from the ownerThanks for your comment, Courtney. We take all client feedback seriously and have passed this on to the branch manager.
