Community Banks of Colorado Reviews

Reese Murphy5Ive banked here for several years, all though it’s a small bank I’ve had a fairly good experience. They were always on top of things and they always reached out to me when it called for it. Would recommend if you plan on staying in Colorado.

victoria aquin2I loved banking here for years until September 2021. They moved the 10 x 10 safe deposit boxes from Gleneagle to Monument branch and their key would not work to open the box We've been transferred by military and they now say I must give them 1 week notice with day and time prior to coming back so they can schedule a box drill while I am there. They don't want to drill box, secure keys and then inventory again when I am able to get there. Have offered notarized waiver but now are not even talking to me through email. Terrible way to treat military members!! Is this a one off? Has someone else had this problem and got it resolved? Why is this on me when my key works and why hasn't the bank manager reached out to me if they are so "people" minded?

Madalyn Archuleta1I’ve been banking here for 17 years... well when it was people’s and actually a good bank. Now, they won’t answer the phone and the guy at the window is beyond disrespectful. The only word he has ever said to me is “yea”... when I pull up he says yea? And then won’t say another word the entire time. I called to complain and never got through to someone. They charge fees even though I was walked through how to avoid those charges. Still being charged... even through a pandemic when money is tight. I will be switching banks the second I have time! I’m done with this
Response from the ownerMadalyn, we apologize for your experience. Someone should be reaching out to you shortly.

Nathan Faber1Much better when they were People's Bank. When they merged, they started charging monthly services fees on my free checking account. When I closed the account after learning this, I asked for a refund of the fees from the merger to that point (hadn't even used the account over this period). They refused. Banks like Air Academy FCU are much more customer friendly.
Response from the ownerNathan, we do have many different options to reduce or avoid the fee. Would you like someone to give you a call and talk through the best options for your account? We would be happy to have someone give you a call.

T. Darryl Hickey1Have had an account at this bank since Win Winters open it as the Woodmoor Bank in what was originally the Woodmoor Corp. office. Have borrowed, paid back, considerable amounts of money. Usually had varied amounts in savings and checking. During one bank owners tenure had an over draft; got dinged, it compounded, I pulled fair amount, all, from savings. Rarely had the same teller after Community took over. Snippy kids are not enjoyable for me to do business with. Had surgery, roads closed in Black Forest, service fee caused over draft. Before I could get to Monument, to close acct., it compounded to 40 dollars. Demanded payment. Outrageous, wrong! Little wonder, the place is empty. The refunded gouge should be sent to Air Academy Credit Union; customer there since 1969.
Response from the ownerDarryl, we apologize for delay, Google has been holding reviews. We're extremely sorry to hear about the issues that you've had. If you'd like we would like to hear more about them. Can you give us any more details or who you spoke with?

adam roeder1Worst bank I have ever dealt with! I tried to close my account before I moved but they wouldn't let me. Then because of automatic payments I received 16 overdraft fees of $35 each. When I tried to get the manager to remove the fees she hung up on me. She was rude and talking over me from the beginning of the call. Horrible customer service! Do not give this bank your business!
Response from the ownerAdam, we are sorry to hear about this and we'd like to hear more about your experience. Could you give us a call at 877.877.0395?

chris todd1“Community” indeed. Most banks will offer simple things like notary services to the community even if you don’t have an account - sometimes complimentary, sometimes for a nominal fee. I needed a single notary signature. Would have even paid a fee. They refused - because I don’t have a deposit account with them. Get this - however. I got my freaking mortgage with them last April, so I was a customer until they sold the mortgage on their own volition a few months back. That was a good experience, so that’s why I went there out of reflex.. I’m sure they made plenty of money off me for that. But even mentioning that, they refused a single five minute notary signature on a quiet Tuesday afternoon. Guy just basically told me to go elsewhere with no other questions. Nice move. BTW, I’m new to the area and this is the closest bank to me. I need a local bank, as USAA is great but there are no local branches. As a small business owner, I have a real issue with businesses who don’t get good business practices. Not a customer, need a notary signature? Sit down with me for those two minutes and sell me a little on your bank, give me a card. It’s free advertising, and a good way to make a personal upsell on your business! Win win. Guess who I would have thought of when I did need to open account? Guess who I’ll avoid completely now? Sad and lazy. I liked their service during the mortgage, but this kind of petty lazy garbage rubs me so wrong. You can bet they won’t get any of my accounts now. A bad taste lasts a long time - and for what? It would have been so easy with zero effort - two minutes and a chance to intro me to your bank - to give a positive experience and win a repeat customer. In looking at other negative reviews, this “you’re not a customer (yet), get out!” attitude seems to be a trend, despite the manager’s “sincerest apologies.” There are four banks within a quarter mile. Take your business to one of the three others. Avoid.

Watt Dawg1Per Treasury regulation, requiring bonds to be cashed in person, signed and with photo ID, I went to this bank to cash in Savings Bonds. The bonds were signed at the bank and stamped by customer service personnel. However, after all this had occurred the bank personnel asked if I had an account, which I do not. At that point they informed me they could not cash this legal tender. This is the first bank out of about 5 or 6 that would not cash savings bonds without having an account with the bank. I now have bonds that have been stamped by this bank and with today's date and will have to try and explain to another bank the issue. Don't plan on ever having an account at this bank. On the plus side the personnel were still friendly and apologized.
