      It pains me to write this review since I've been a long time customer (almost if not 20 years). Ebilling and payment changes were made sometime in 2021 and as a result I have started using it less and less. The last several payments to my HOA were through Coastal's site and all of a sudden (since the change), my money takes 2 WEEKS to draft from my account. I used to get the funds debited (almost like a cashier's check) and the chances of me overdrafting were slim. Because of this change, I have recently overdrafted. I scheduled my mortgage to post on the 31st but because of the delivery date of the 30th, it gets declined. When I get paid on the 15th the same thing happens except now my mortgage is late if it posts the 16th. I have moved away from using this service and as soon as I find a suitable bank to replace Coastal, I will also be closing my account. These issues plus the nightmare I dealt with when cashing a realtor's check last year tells me the honeymoon is OVER!

      Tried to talk to them about “phishing” emails I received and their Customer Service just HUNG UP a on me - Desiree was her name Management at Coastal must be awful is the CS people hang up in you Glad I bank with another company

      I really wished I never got involved with this credit union. They are so much into upselling that it's like dealing with the big banks. But unlike the big banks their systems are antiquated. Overall, I haven't had a good experience with these folks. Definitely not in the same league as the State Employees Credit Union and that ain't saying much. Overall, meh.

      I would highly recommend not banking with them. Very hard to even get into your account over the phone. App is outdated and hard to use. People on the phone are very, very rude. I felt very disrespected while talking with the member resolutions department about getting my car back. The fact that it’s a pandemic and this bank has no empathy or remorse for its customers just shows that this is not a people friendly bank. I would never ever bank or loan with them again. Very disappointed and would not recommend.

      I am a long time customer but am writing this review due to 3 recent very poor experiences. One: I asked for my kids' account numbers in writing (via email) because I could not tell which account was which from the website. Coastal made a typo in the email and it caused me to waste an hour on the phone getting things straightened out. Two: I refinanced my mortgage with Coastal in May 2021, and they caused an escrow disbursement check from the other bank to not process (Coastal's mistake), blamed me for accepting a bad check (the check was fine), made me overdraw my checking account, and only took responsibility when I contacted upper management. Three: my son initiated a wire transfer from our joint Coastal account to his other bank a week ago, the wire transfer has not gone through after 5 business days, the other bank is not showing any activity, Coastal has repeatedly told him that they can't give him information on the transaction (such as which account they sent the money to), and he is in limbo while missing several thousand dollars. Update: my son's money transfer was completed after 8 calendar/6 business days. He was 8 days without his money while it was being sent electronically to a verified, confirmed account.

      Customer service was horrible we didn’t get greeted with no kind of politeness horrible just horrible we didn’t get our paperwork they’re supposed to been sent out to us we went through red tape with the Customer Service lady she had a bad attitude I would advise anybody if you got a loan with this bank go somewhere else please coastal credit union is horrible they really need to train their customer service people bad attitude

      The mortgage dept. here is a joke. I'm not sure how you call yourself a mortgage specialist and fail to tell a buyer how the appraisal price of their home will affect the money they were planning to put towards their down payment (could potentially cost them tens of thousands). Then on top of that, you fail to ask a first time home buyer about applying for the NC tax credit that can get them a few thousand dollars back on their taxes the year they buy their home. And before I get the generic response about sending a secure message for more information, you're welcome to respond here directly about why these errors occurred in the first place and if anything will be done to remedy them.

      Gregg Norris is the rudest lender I have ever had to deal with, I was trying to buy my first house with a credit score of 760, Gregg was rude and our convo lasted all of 3 min before he told me he was not going to approve me for the loan he didn't run my credit he didn't do anything, I was struggling to complete the application a bit so I called Gregg and asked if we were ever going to be able to meet in person all he had to say was I am working from home I have approved over 300 people this month over the phone , you will not qualify for this loan. I have banked with coastal for years, got credit cards, and financed cars through them. He is a terrible fit for your company and a COMPLETE ASSSHOLE!!!

      I was really looking forward to joining the credit union and using them to get our very first mortgage loan. They were the first place we contacted when we decided to buy a home. Unfortunately, the mortgage sales manager, Kristin, in the Raleigh office was so incredibly dismissive, condescending, and rude, my family will be using a different agency. She soured a really exciting once in a lifetime experience.

      Worst banking experience ever. I was lured by an attractive offer which evaporated before my first statement even closed. I was unable to get assistance as my messages would be marked resolved when no one had responded. I closed my account. Months later I am still unsuccessfully trying to get my money back. This apparently can't be done by calling customer support. I give up. I've been a happy member of SECU for 30 years. CFCU does not provide the same level of service. Note to the person who responded: I'm not on Facebook.
