  Approx 30 days ago I closed a loan that I initiated online with Coast2CoastMortgage.com. I've been very hesitant to leave a review because that was such a horrific experience. We missed 3 closing deadlines and it took 53 days to close my loan. Despite using a quite friendly and professional C2C loan originator (or whatever they call it) named Todd Haynes I cannot recommend Coast2Coast Mortgage. Todd puts the blame squarely on Covid 19 and manpower shortages at the lender that we chose (Stearns of San Francisco, CA). Maybe Covid is a reasonable explanation. But I'm telling you right now, Stearns employs a t least two extremely slow and uncaring underwriters and I'll NEVER forgive them for the stress, confusion, frustration and delays I endured. Consider this: I was right on the verge of losing my $50K escrow down payment 3 different times. Were it not for Todd and his interaction with the seller's realtor to buy more time I would have surely lost it. Don't get me wrong. Todd was no saint. There were times when I needed him and couldn't get the responses I expected. And I didn't get honest updates from him as we approached those 3 closing deadlines. By the way, his initial estimate for closing was 22 days. With that we would have closed on the first deadline. Over time he never actually proactively forecast a clear time to close, which continuously got longer and longer. In my opinion he does far too many internally mandated Zoom meetings. That was his most common explanation. And when it came to influencing and motivating the Stearns underwriters to take note of our deadlines and speed up the process he was totally incapable. When I asked to get his management involved Todd never got anyone to call, text or email me directly. Early one morning as another deadline was approaching I called the CEO directly and actually got him to answer the phone. He seemed to be genuinely interested in helping. Although I never heard back from him it did seem that he was involved in conveying to Stearns what we were up against. But the delays and frustration continued for many more days. Stearns is like a stubborn old mule. For the record, immediately after closing my loan they sold my mortgage to another company. That actually made me feel better! Anyway, back to Todd, he worked his behind off for me, especially on the day we actually closed. I like him personally. He's definitely a company man and plays by the rules and regulations, which was frustrating to me but laudable on his part. If he could have gotten me to closing after only one missed deadline he would absolutely deserve a higher rating than 2 stars. But it is what it is. FYI, he has followed up with me after closing in the same way a friend would. I still respect and appreciate him. As for Coast2Coast, there is something seriously lacking with them with the way they missed 3 closing deadlines. Covid -- Schmovid. I should have used a local lender and would NEVER again consider using them.

The lender selected experienced capacity or fulfillment delays which extended the underwriting turn-times by almost 24 days. As you stated in your review, your loan officer Todd Haynes worked his behind off for you and your wife, even going to the point of negotiating with the seller on your behalf to extend the contract until closing could take place. He stated to me that he wanted to make sure that you and your wife were able to close and was not going to give up until that job was complete. For Coast 2 Coast Mortgage, our dedication to customer service does not end at the closing table. I am very happy to know that he has reached out to you after the closing has been completed to ensure there were no further concerns or needs to be addressed. I am sorry that your experience was not to your liking however I am very happy that we were able to help you close on your dream home!

  Scott Smith was amazing!! Highly recommend. He was efficient and super responsive. From the time that we expressed interest in purchasing our home he was there every step of the way and made this happen for us!

  I dealt with Jeff during a difficult time in our country with the virus, not to mention it all had to happen over the phone and internet. Times were trying and not easy but we got it done. I was in PA. And Jeff was on Fl. I texted, called and emailed many times and he guided me through the process. Thank You.
