Lacie Parris1I’ve had this bank for just about 2 years now, and I’ve never really used to have problems with them up until recently. I’ve only spoken to a handful of employees there who seemed actually genuine. I’ve run into issues depositing a check from the same employer I’ve had over the last year because of my name even though I’ve been depositing these checks for a very long time. Secondly, my wallet was stolen and whoever stole it tried to use my cards to purchase things. Police will do nothing about it because it’s attempted fraud not real fraud. Champion canceled my card and then DIDNT ORDER A NEW ONE FOR OVER TWO WEEKS. I canceled my card in person, and the person who canceled it couldn’t have ordered a new card for me? I waited on a card that was never even coming. I decided to empty my account because I obviously can’t trust them to keep my money safe if for whatever reason the person who stole my card actually finds a way to use it. Then champion to top this all off allows my account to go over 200 in the negative after I told them to disable my account temporarily which they didn’t do. My autopay bills kept trying over and over and over, even though I called those companies and told them everything that happened. So I go to champion, speak to the first helpful employee in a long time. She understands why I’m starting to hate this bank. She calls her manager to ask to reverse at least some of the overdraft fees. Her manager says she will only reverse one overdraft fee if I can bring a police report. Earlier I mentioned that I cannot get a police report because it is “attempted” fraud. Now I’ve been calling for two days and can’t get ahold of an answer. Today I believe I will post about this everywhere so people can avoid this local bank and empty/close my account. I had a check of 300 dollars that I was assured I could go ahead and deposit because “I’m sure we can get these fees taken care of.” I trusted them when I should’ve closed the account right there so I could’ve had my check money in my pocket, not paying off 200 of overdraft fees. A lot of the employees are stuck up. I really appreciate the ones who aren’t. If someone tries to help me today then I will update my reviews and applaud them for helping.

David Cole5Would give 10 stars if i could! They’re always so helpful, nice and friendly, and remember you. Never have i seen a bank like this. And it’s from all their locations. I’ve been from waynesville to Hendersonville to Asheville and back to canton, etc, and have never had one complaint. They care about their members and community and i Olán to continue using this bank as long as i Can!

Billy Davidson1This place is dirty. Avoid it at all costs! They will not work with you and they’re more than happy to screw anyone for an extra dollar. No grace. No mercy. No regard for their customers at all. Choose literally any other credit Union or bank in WNC over this one.

Mr Robot Shop (Athomecanton)1I signed up for a rewards Visa card - and received Platinum card instead. I spend around 10k each month - and so my rewards are generally hefty. When I brought this to their attention - they did not want to take care of the issue. They did not call me back as they said they would. I asked to close the account, and they did not. Poor customer service and poor attitudes. Will be moving my accounts elsewhere.

Caleb1Worst establishment ever! During the heat of Covid they asked if I wanted to use my deferments on my payments and of course I said yes and at the end of my last deferment they came and repoed my vehicle and said that I had never used a deferment. Very bad establishment. Bad business worst experience ever! -7/10 recommend! They had a 3 star rating for a reason. Absolutely the worst place to do business.

Matt Solle1Attempted to reach the Mortgage agent five different times. Made sure to be friendly, leave a voicemail with my name and information. Never heard back. I've previously had great experiences with Champion Credit Union but no longer recommend them to my friends and family. Edit: This was my experience at the Canton location. Apparently whoever responded below also looked up my info and had the agent in Asheville (who was great) reach out to be as if it were her fault. The Asheville agent, Misty, is amazing. She was perfectly receptive and I had to go to her because the Canton agent may not even exist (or so my experience leads me to believe). This is a review of the Canton location. I don't appreciate random people at Champion Credit Union looking up my data and approaching team members at an entirely different Champion Credit Union location.

C.F.5I opened my CCU account at the Waynesville location about three years ago, but own a home in the Canton area so I frequent the Canton location. That initial account opening process was easy and actually pleasant. I was even sent a thoughtful personal card by mail from the woman who assisted me on day one. I had an awful experience with my former banking institution prior to choosing to go with ChampionCU. I even had to get the Better Business Bureau involved there. I did a lot of researching after closing the door to that bank; and have since decided credit unions is where it’s at! I’ve had no issues with ChampionCU, and have really enjoyed taking advantage of their on-site after hours banking options at the Canton location. Very convenient with my former work-schedule. This year I lost my small business due to Covid and finances have been an abnormal struggle to say the least. I’ve cut it close in my banking accounts on several occasions and risked overdraft fees... Teresa and her advisors have been so helpful and understanding during this time. Genuinely interested in assisting me with my account matters when and where they could whenever I reached out with account concerns I was dealing with.
