My business partners and I opened a business account with PFR Mike DeGaetano a few weeks ago. The process was smooth and easy, and Mike was both knowledgeable and a ton of fun to work with! Our expectations for customer service were more than met, and we were confident in the COVID 19 protocols in place. Overall, a great banking experience!

      Response from the owner

Hello Kallie! We're so pleased to hear that your experience with Mike at Thunderbolt was top-notch. He's a valued part of the CapEd family and we're happy to have him! We also appreciate the feedback on the measures we're taking to minimize COVID19 exposure risks in our community. We hope you have a fantastic day and thanks for choosing CapEd!

Currently suffering through a CapEd mortgage loan process. Based on the experience we are having, my recommendation to you would be do not use CapEd if you would like to close on time, as well as if you appreciate responses to your email questions (questions such as "Does it look like we will be able to close on time?" ) I applied for an in-house mortgage. Ten days into the process, it is revealed that our mortgage will be with Flagstar. I applied for in house for a reason-to work locally. Email responses are short and vague, if received at all. I had to give a credit card to pay upfront for the appraisal. This is our sixth home purchase, and this is not customary - we have never had to do this before. Despite having giving the credit card deposit, our loan officer waited two weeks to order the appraisal-hence the reason we will not be closing on time. Sure, this is just one person's experience, but you will be taking a risk. I would recommend going elsewhere. Perhaps CapEd is good for checking account needs, but mortgages are a severe weakness for them.

I've been a member of cap Ed since I was a kid. And I've always felt that they are behind the times on hours and services. But today is the last straw! I get a call that a skimmer was used on their ATM and my card was compromised on the 15th! It's a week later and I'm now just finding this out? Then I go to the branch that called and they can't print debit cards because their machine is down. Ok I'll just use my courtesy pay I signed up for a month ago. Oh nope because they don't know why but that won't work either. And no one is available to fix that issue on a Saturday... And while it's great their sorry and what not, that's not good enough. You're a bank, like do your job and don't put the responsibility on me as the customer to have to take time off from work to come in when it's convenient for you. This is beyond frustrating!!!!

I've moved out of state and still use Cap Ed. I've been banking with them since high school. Even banking with them from out of state is super easy and everything is accessible over the phone or online. I can't ever imagine not using them. There's alot more people power in a credit union than in a big bank. And a credit union that is so inclusive is great.

Came into this place with my two very young children at 1:45 pm to finish opening an account (literally just needed to verify one piece of paperwork-five minute process). I was greeted by the teller who asked me to wait in the waiting area and a banker would be with me shortly. There were no other people waiting. 45 minutes later (trying to keep my toddler entertained the whole time) a banker finally came out to tell us that he had to do other work so wouldn’t be able to get to us today. Very unimpressed and will likely just open our families’ accounts elsewhere.

      Response from the owner

Dear Rosalie, We apologize for the long wait time you experienced. At CapEd we do our best to serve our members as quickly and efficiently as possible, though some interactions take more time to complete than others. In the case that meeting other members’ needs is taking longer than anticipated, we work to prioritize our members’ time to ensure the quality of their time with us. We understand your frustration with not being able to review your paperwork on the day of your visit. A CapEd representative will be in touch with you today to learn more about how we can improve your experience and earn your membership. Sincerely, CapEd Credit Union

I went in to sign over a check and deposit it into my moms account. I owed my mother this money. I was spoke to rudely by Janna in regards to the transaction I was attempting to do. I had never done this before so I had my mom give me her debit card so I could make sure there were no issues. When I handed Janna the card she told me "oh you have your moms card, you using that, you need to open your own account". I told her AGAIN that I owed my mom this money and was depositing the check into her account. She goes on to ramble about how the check may not clear because I'm not on the account and I told here I don't care if it does. I just need to pay her what I owe. Then she proceeds to start talking to another teller about 100 dollar bills and not even telling me if the transaction is done. Bad representation of the company Janna and FYI I have my own account at US BANK.

I just have to say I have been going to this bank for a long time, and today they noticed something about me and were kind enough to call me after I left the branch to ensure I was treated appropriately and with respect every time I come in. And although I am always treated well- the actions that took place today were just above and beyond and it made me very proud to be a part of such an inclusive bank. Thank you to all who work there and make it an inviting place to bank with.
