Ameris Bank Mortgage Office Reviews

Michael Shikany2My complaints about Ameris are Customer Service on the 800 number and the mobile deposit feature. I deal with three banks: one mega national bank a medium sized similar to Ameris and Ameris. My main and the most aggravating issue is the mobile deposit feature. It is what I would call "MIckey Mouse". Works about half the time. Their 800 help line is useless. When you call them, It's as if I'm the only person that has ever had a problem with it. I also use Quick books that is supposed to connect with the bank. It works OK most of time-- until it doesn't. When something goes wrong, again, it takes an act of congress to find someone in their Customer Service 1-800 dept that knows what's going on. I tried and tried to set up an overpayment feature on my equity mortgage. Again, customer service is no help. The final answer is that I can't do that. The only redeeming factor to me is my branch manager. He has been terrific over the years and does what he can to help in a tough situation. Now let me get back to trying to deposit my check.

Andrew Greenberg1I have been with plenty of banks, and none has ever been as bad as Ameris. Avoid this bank at all costs!!! EDIT March 3, 2021. I am amazed that this bank manages to get even worse. They failed to pay the full property taxes on my mortgaged property. When I reached out to them, about it, they had me send in the outstanding bill and then did not reply to me for a month. I called them repeatedly and finally found a supervisor who admitted to seeing my emails and the outstanding bill. Now, weeks later, the bank reaches out to me to see it does not have bill, which they earlier told me they had received. And, of course, they have never responded to the messages I left at the below number they asked me to call.
Response from the ownerAndrew, it's upsetting to hear that you did not receive the top-notch service we strive to provide. We hope you are willing to give us another chance. Please reach out to us at 855-249-8131 so we can work towards a resolution.

Thomas Ramsay1EDIT: Don't think the "Response from the owner" below means anything. It used to say call us, I called and it is just a VM system. They do not call back when you leave messages. Now they have edited it to ask me to email them. I have sent emails and they dont respond. I have been chasing an escrow problem for over a year. I have called a dozen times and no one including the "supervisors" seems to even understand my simple questions. The representatives clearly have no interest in helping and will do anything they can to get you off the phone quickly. This company has the worst customer service. If you want a lender with representatives that can answer basic questions or do simple math I recommend you find a any other lender than Ameris.
Response from the ownerHi Thomas - Please email us at [email protected] so we can work with you to make this right.

Jamie Mathis1Made the unfortunate mistake to stayed with Ameris after they merged with Fidelity. Fidelity had outstanding customer service and I never had one issue. Since the merge I have not been able to speak to anyone about my mortgage as the hold times are >1 hour; they made a mistake with my insurance company so I am attempting to fix a problem they created. I will take my business elsewhere
Response from the ownerJamie Mathis, we regret to hear this. We would like to assist with a resolution, so if you are willing, please reach out to us at (404) 553-2900.

L McNeil1A year later, I’m still trying to recover payments that I made to Fidelity when Ameris Bank took over. I received a Letter stating that my account information wouldn’t change, but it did and they can’t seem to locate my payments even after I provided proof of payment to the old account. As someone else previously stated, they are extremely disorganized and are ridiculously slow to respond.
Response from the ownerWe would like to have a better understanding about your experience. Please reach out to us at (404) 553-2900 at your earliest convenience and we will do our best to resolve this with you.

Samantha Adams1Would leave 0 stars if this was an option, especially regarding the service that Phillip Breaux provides, or doesn’t provide would be more accurate. Avoid at all costs. Do yourself a favor and find a better lender. They don’t pay property taxes, claim the checks have been “cancelled” and “resent.” Good luck if you choose to use them.

David Klanac1Disorganized. My mortgage transferred to them. They required all new customers to opt back into auto draft via snail mail, and they didn’t even set it up when I mailed my request via certified letter. Snail mail. What century are we in?
