America first wont give me my own money. On February 14th, I deposited a large check that I recieved for a car accident settlement. This check was drawn on Bank of America and written by a multi million dollar law firm. They released $2,000 to me and put the rest on a 7 day hold. Well...today is day 7. And they are now refusing to release the funds until the 26th. Thats 12 days. America first says that from thr 14th to the 26th is 7 "business days". My car broke down on the 16th. More then enough to cover that is sitting there collecting interest for the bank while Bank of America "verifies the funds". Which multi million dollar business are they afraid wont be able to cover the funds? Yes I asked them that, and also told them my car broke down. The corporate office seems sympathetic but the local Mesa branch wont budge. I'm paying for rides to work and my car sits in the garage waiting for a mechanic while they "verify". When my check clears, Im closing my account. I've been there 5 years and have never had an issue until I went through the Mesa branch. Both the issuer and guarantor are huge companies, I've banked with you for 5 years, what the hell is the hold up America First?

I have had them since 1991 when I was an Airman at Hill AFB UT and they have always been very friendly and helpful. They have always had better technology and voice recognition than even the big ones like Chase and Wells Fargo. Their rates are better than USAA and their service is much much better than USAA which is full of robots. I don't know who gave them a one-star but that person is an idiot. I have had Decades of experience with him and know they are one of the best credit unions in the country.

This was the absolute worst experience I have ever had with a financial institution. Two months ago I sent them a large check to pay off my auto loan. After waiting about 3 weeks and hearing nothing, I called to find out why I had not received my Clear Title. They informed me that "by accident" my check had been deposited in savings instead of paying off my car. So we got that straightened out and my car was paid off. They told me it would be about 2 days before my title would be cut and up to another 10 days for it to arrive at my home. They refused to overnight it as I requested, even though they were at fault and I needed to get my title to the DMV for work. SO another 3 weeks go by and still no title. I called again and the man that "helped" me told me, after several times being put on hold, that the printing of my title had "accidentally" been canceled. He promised to send me something by email that I could take to the DMV to get my title changed to Arizona. 5 days later and still no title and no email with info to take to the DMV. CALLED AGAIN today. Another young man that "helped" me told me that for sure my title had been mailed on Monday and should be here in another week or less. I gave them a 1 star rating ONLY because that was the lowest rating allowed. I would have preferred to give them a MINUS 5 if it would have been available. I would never deal with this company again and I would advise everyone to shop elsewhere for financing.

This company is a nightmare and no matter how you try to get ahold of them they just keep turning you to the next person or saying they will have somebody call you back and never do I got an auto loan through them and the title was completely wrong I guess I should have read the reviews before I got a loan through this bank mistake on my part Please do yourself a favor and do not use this bank for anything! Shout out to the bank manager for having her superior call me back, oh wait that did not happen eather.

This bank is a joke. Don’t use it unless you have to I guess.

Can't do shared branching inside and they send you to an ATM that doesn't function. Absolute insanity

If you decide to get a loan with America First they offer a Skip a Payment program during the holidays , DO NOT USE IT it is not disclosed to the member that once you make your regular payment the next month it won’t go towards your principal payment just their interest . Basically you are not being helped as you are charged for interest throughout the time period of payments on top of a $25 fee . It’s not disclosed to you over the phone with loan officers nor their website, literally a slap in the face when you’re a first time member with this bank or new to loans . Lesson learned

I agree with the last reviews. I have been with them for about 10 years, they were so great! The last 3 or so have been bad. Now I'm at the end of the line with their decreasing value of service. Bots for answering machines, bots for emails, they don't value their customers. DON'T BANK HERE

I would not do a loan with them. I asked to make an extra payment on a loan to just the principal, and the team on the phone advised me they do not do principal only payments. I have to pay towards interest each time and cannot pay off the loan early.

      Response from the owner

Hi Guy, we apologize for any frustration.

was looking for another financial institution to open a couple checking accounts, found AFCU and it was close to work. called them and was told to go online to fill out information and someone would get back. fill out online for new checking account, read all the fine print and pressed send. Next day i get an alert from my credit report that a "hard inquiry" was placed on my file from American First Credit Union for an installment load. My credit score went down 8 points and now this "hard inquiry will star on my report for 25 months.Seems a little harsh to just open a checking account. Called AFCU and told them what happened and they denied that is what happened, i told them i can email or drop off a copy to show proof so they can correct this on my credit report. The lady said they were not interested in looking at the proof and to handle the issue with Experian. what is funny, 4 days later AFCU customer service called to see how my experience was in opening an account with AFCU, it was laughable to say the least. Put your money elsewhere!!!!!!!!!!!
