WSECU Reviews

Jordan Jones1I use to love this place however now their service an hours leave a lot to be desired. They seem to be closed for every opportunity including at 3 o’clock in the afternoon. Everyone else was open due to the snow but they were close.
Response from the ownerThanks for this feedback, Jordan. We're sorry we weren't able to keep regular business hours this week because of road conditions. Rather than put our staff at risk of an accident or injury, we made the tough choice to open late and close early. As a financial institution, we also have to ensure that we have enough employees on the premises for everyone's safety in order to be open. We hope these impacts will be few and far between, and appreciate your understanding!

Brianna A.1I've been a member with WSECU since I was a little kid but the way they treated me yesterday makes me want to close my account and go elsewhere. All I was trying to do was a simple name change now that I'm married and since WSECU doesn't feel like a Native American tribal card is sufficient enough for them I now have to waste my time to come back another day. My card has a photo of me, my signature, date of birth and address but the only thing he would except is a Washington state driver's license (which I haven't been able to get yet). I feel discriminated against for being Native American. It's a valid from of ID. It's sad that you can use a Native American tribal ID to get in the airport and travel but WSECU won't let me use it to simply change my name on my account with them.
Response from the ownerWe're saddened to hear about your desire to close your account. We seek to treat every member with respect and courtesy. It’s clear we fell short this time and we sincerely apologize for that. It’s true that our list of valid ID for opening an account or changing the name on an account currently does not include federally-issued tribal ID. We strive to balance convenience for members with the recommended protocols that protect the credit union from the risk of fraud. That’s led us to require state issued ID or an equivalent as our go-to when ID needs to be presented. Your feedback illuminates that there may be cases, especially for current members, that merit a review and fresh look at how we handle them. In the meantime, we’d like to explore more options with you to accomplish getting your married name adjusted on the account. We hope you will give us another chance by returning to the branch when you have a few minutes to talk through this together. Thanks for your honest, candid input. We are taking it to heart.

Matthew Bedford (music2myear)4Decent bank. One of the bigger credit unions, so they might not offer all the special services smaller CUs offer. But still, they are friendly and accessible.
Response from the ownerIf there is a particular service you'd like to see us offer in the future, let us know Matthew. We always appreciate getting recommendations from our members!
